The lemonade man
Righteo, basically since I started trials I've been swapping from mod to stock. I ride better on a mod but love stock bikes, gah, problemo! So I had a look at the onza zoot, is this much different to a 26"? Really want to ride stock but basically I'm too sh*te. Also, how short does it feel? Being 14 I find it pretty hard to ride long bikes, well that's my excuse, and coming from a 970wb mod it'd be a bit of a change for me. Views? Fishy
24 is very street, not much like stock. More spins and stuff. I've got an onza zoot. and they are absolute beasts! I'd advise everyone to get one. If your all into this tapping gapping and sidehops, then 24 isn't really all for it. It has a more bmx influence to it. The lemonade man
Yeah, I'm into the more trialsy side of things. The problem is, whenever I end up with a mod I like the thought of having a stock and vise versa I'm so fickle. Having one of each isn't really an option either. Onza Kieron
I went from stock to 24 and found the bike alot easier to ride and got me into trials again in a new way, I don't like the idea of mod as I'm 6, 5 and think i'd look rediculous so.. I advise, give it a try, you may well like it, I do taps and sidehops on mine fine, the geo o the zoot is very UCI compared to say, Curtis T24 etc, if you were to buy a second hand one you wouldn't be loosing out on much cash either if you decided to sell on after not liking it... hin hint, BUY MINE. But yeah, its nice if your indecicive or cant get on with either stock or mod..
Tomm
Sounds like you just wanna stick to a mod until you grow a bit maybe? As much as I love 24, I don't really think it's the answer to your problems.
The lemonade man
That's probably what will happen, just seems I could push my drops and gaps on a stock.Anyway, thanks for the help. Guess I'll stick to the mod for now

joe b
Not really; only about 2"...Sorry, i felt i had to do it .24" bikes are concentrated on the 'street/bmx' side of trials, and 26" bikes can be adjusted in a number of different ways (ie. bar/stem setup) to make the bike fit into lots of different catagories of trials. What do i know anyway? I ride mod!Cheers,Joe.

I'm not saying it would be impossible but I don't really see how it would be better than a stock or a mod...
Prawny Baby
how about trying a longer mod perhaps?you say your shite on stocks, and have a 970wb mod....try something a little longer, like something around 1020 perhaps.best of both worlds! Heatsink
--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(joe b @ Nov 21 2006, 05:33 PM) ←</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->But yeah, if you want to ride real trials stuff, I don't see how a 24" could really help you, especially since there aren't alot of trials specific parts... There's no need to worry about that. I used all my 26" trials parts on my 24". There are a few choices from UK sources that are designed around the 26" fork, so all you need to complete the build is a pair of 24" rims and spokes of which there is an abundance of proven choices. I find the 24" frame easier to spin around on the back wheel than my 26" which has injected variety into my riding, opening up the range of moves that I'm doing. A good time too because I was getting bored of just practising the usual up and down moves, gaining a inch here and there. Just as easy to do all the usual trials moves too. An International level rider echoed my experiences and said that he could do all the same moves as on his stock and to the same size, and was enjoying the new spinnier moves that he was finding easier to perform on the 24".Steve
Josephine
I've been quite intrigued by this 24" trials lark recently... Not in a particularly streety way, though. I'm 6'1" and not slightly built so my 985 Monty mod is a bit dwarfed by me. I've been finding myself rather jaded by trials all in all and I was thinking something along the lines of a Zoot or a 24UK might give me a different angle and something new to play with basically. Anyone with experience of this kind of situation help me out? I'm not after a big mod, nor a dinky stock, just something that feels a bit new.Joe x
The lemonade man
A bit how I feel. Thinking about a short stock, as I like to be able to manual etc easily. Long mod's don't really do it for me though.I'll probably stick to my mod for a bit and see how it goes, I'll probably change my mind in a couple of weeks Damn I wish I was rich.Cheers for the advice. roly
24 is the way. I bought a mod and it was pap because they are wierd! Then I had stock for a bit which was great for 100% trials but I hated manualling it and just found it massively limited. I can do everything just as well on a 24 but its so much more versatile. It feels more like a bike! Really good fun and increases your possibilities loads. They are not a set design, people often talk about 24 as though it is all one thing. You can build it any way you want. Search the pics thread and you see pure trials ones, real street ones, whatever. The only problem is tyres I find. I am not happy with the available choices and I have tried most. PM me if you are interested in one cause I have enough bits lying around, including this:http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/vexdroly/Ashton2.jpg
