Silly Old Fool Thinking Of Starting Again

Hi all,

I'm 40, not fit and haven't ridden a trials bike in 20 years. In those years I've moved from Yorkshire to Leicester and know nothing about the trials scene down here.

Does anybody know of any clubs in the area which have a novices section? And is there anywhere I can practice? (Short of going back and forth over my wife's car in the drive.)

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thank you,

John

Do you have an area unused around your house? like the garden or something or a patio.

if you do then i suppose it would be abvisable to get some pallets and arrange them how you please in the garden just to start off with so you can get the feel for riding again. (take the car to halfords or something.....and.... :- remove the pallets for them )

max...

Theres loads of us riders in leicester and the surrounding villages/towns. We had a ride in leicester on saturday with over 20 locals ;)

Add me to msn and i'll send you the addresses of all the local riders so you get to know them and come out riding with us sometime.

As to actual clubs theres a comp thing thats held some weekends nearby but having never been to it i don't know much about it.

Places of local interest are leicester city: street riding, bradgate park: natural, loughborough: street riding, shepshed: natural, bracken rocks (derby): natural, coventry: street, and other places like notts and peterborough.

I really wouldn't ride Bradgate Park, especially when it's busy! The wardens have the power to confiscate bikes, and they have in the past. The forest next door is ok though.

There's a motorcycle trials club in Earl Shilton who's name escapes me at the moment, and they have a great practise ground for natural. It's not a lot to join for the facilities you get! I've spoken to them before about having biketrials riders as members, and they're quite happy to take us!

Hi, I'm another Leicester rider. I was on the Saturday ride with Kris and loads of other riders.

My email is johnstuff@hotmail.co.uk - send me a mail if you want to ride sometime or checkout the rides/locations part of the forum as there's rides going on most weekends in or around Leicester.

Cheers,

John (Y)

Never had a problem with them so long as i'm not bombing down the hills as fast as i can they are alright about it. One of them said if little kids can run and climb over them i dont see why you can't ride your bikes over the rocks. Some of them get arsy but even then the most they do is politely ask us to not do it or go to swithland woods... the place up the road.

That's good, I've fancied riding Bradgate park for a while but assumed I'd get thrown out or shot by the rangers if I did :D
