TomR
Don't know if it's ever been mentioned before but it works really well over on astra-sport.co.uk for local meets/nights out etc, and if someone is planning on going elsewhere they can check the regional forum for wherever it is they're going.A load of sub-forums in the rides and locations forum maybe?Edit - Might have been a good idea to add a poll but a bit late, doh. Barbra
i don't think it would work that well on this forum to be honest, i think it would be a bit of a waste, as not many people from other countries are on this forum. Most Americans sort out rides on OTN, twas a good thought though.
TomR
Regional as in national regions, not an international thing.
Fish-Finger-er
its a nice idea, but dont see it'd be that beneficial, as if i was interested in a ride, id just click on the topics with names that look like places close to me. also would be hard to orchestrate. how would you do it, counties, countries, cities???you do countries, its rather wide, why would the a brighton rider be interested in a newcastle ride. you do it cities, seems kinda stupid, i live 65 miles from the nearest city. and many cities have crap trials scenes. i.e places like manchester are massive, but dont have a very big riding scene, compared to towns like loughborough, where it seems to be busting at the seams with riders.doing it counties is also rather stupid, take shropshire for example. theres like 5 of us i think on here who currently reside in shropshire, even though its one of the biggest counties in britain. an wed have a buzzin sub forum (me, jon rothwell, adamtrials, sam(forgot his second name, rides for clean bikes), tom neww(lankeman). and theres only 3 of us who ive seen post in the last 6 weeks. also would be kinda stupid, as id naturally go and look in the shropshire forum, which would have rides happening 70 mile away right on the other side of the county, whereas infact, would be quicker for me to pop up to say bangor, liverpool, birmingham, nottingham, derby etc. which would all be in seperate rooms.think itd be best off the way it is. TomR
I'd suggest counties, too many cities and not enough international membership ot warrant doing it as countried.Check out how its done on astra sport. Each region has its own region organisers/mods, generally a member list and they often organise nights out too. Not saying that cant be done with TF's current set up but with 7000+ members, having set forums might encourage people to get to know each other a bit more than just a thread. craigjames
i think having a regional memebers list would be awesome. i mean for me ive just moved to portsmouth and it would have been so much easier to find out whos there and what its like riding wise and to sort out bike problems if i could find that sort of info in a list. dunno, would be nice if all riders put where the live on there profiles.craig
Tom Booth
[attachmentid=8237] Sorta like that? I think its a mega idea. Really handy. *pics thanks to the mini forum*
Walleee
I'd like it, I dont know where anything in england scotland or wales is pretty much, just a few places. It'd make finding out what comp places are accesable too if it was done in a sorta north, south, east, west and midlands of england, then scotland, wales, and Ireland.....I kinda like the idea.Generally we post local ride's on trialsworld, as most local's go on there. Krisboats
I too think it'd be a much simpler idea, group nights out sounds like a plan too
plainlazy84
Another idea to throw into the hat is some kind of searchable database by rider location. So you could type in say "Brighton" or even a postcode and it would come up with a list of members in that area. If you were visiting somewhere, or had just moved to a new area it would make finding the local riders a lot easier.I dont know if there is enough posting in the rides/location section to warrant sub sections by area. I dont go in there very often but im pretty sure that most rides organised stay on the first page for a week or two ? Thats plenty of time to find an organised ride and being able to see them all on one page makes it all pretty easy to work.
TomR
Yeah but if each area was a bit better organised than an 'anyone riding XXXXX tomorrow?' thread then maybe people would be more inclined to visit the forum/post ideas. downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
personally, i dont think this forum is organised well enough...Like, say...In "forsale and wanted" part of the forum, it is a real BIG mess! All diffrent kind of threads mixed all together! i think that if you catergorised all of the forums, then the forum would become more neater...Like, in FSW forum, you coud have subforms in, "forsale, wanted", then inside of each of them have, "MOD, Stock, BMX/other types of bikes, miselanious items" subforms...Then the person who is looking to buy doesnt have to look through 10000 posts which are all stock items, when they are looking for mod parts...the forum would turn out ALOt neater! and i would also maybe gain interest in it again, cause i just get pissed off when looking through hundreds of mixed up posts n stuff... TomR
I agree on the for sale forum, it could atleast be split into 'complete bikes wanted' 'complete bikes for sale' 'components wanted' 'components for sale' and 'other'. We couild generally do with a seperate forum for forum ideas/, forum news/updates etc.

Seriously guys you'll be asking the forum to wipe your arse's next.EDIT:This isn't even the topic I thought it was, there is another regarding re-structuring the FS/WTD board.... Tom Booth
Im sure the idea about FS/wtd has been discussed before? I'm sure Tom and Danny would love to have this place as they want, all these suggestions people are comming up with tryed but I'm sure other commitments come before the forum to be honest. Such as the Mini, Ehy Danny.

Simon
It would be a lot easier if people could be arsed to put Fs, Wtd, Ot at the start of their god damn topics.Splitting it will make no difference, the quality of the posts will still be as shit, will just mean the shit is spread out over more sections. Mark W
I agree on the for sale forum, it could atleast be split into 'complete bikes wanted' 'complete bikes for sale' 'components wanted' 'components for sale' and 'other'. We couild generally do with a seperate forum for forum ideas/, forum news/updates etc. If people actually put decent titles, there'd be no need? Why bother having it so you've got to f**k around so much when you could just ask people instead to put "For Sale: Complete stock" or whatever? If people used descriptive titles instead of shit like the current favourite "Just testing the water", it'd be fine. Having a sub-forum divided into another 6 or 7 sub-forums is annoying as hell... downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Having a sub-forum divided into another 6 or 7 sub-forums is annoying as hell...But not as annoying as having to scroll through 5 pages in the first subforum to find a post which is selling mod parts...Seriously though, if you had subforums inside subforums, then it would make life much easier! If you looking for mod parts, go in mod section, then browse... if you looking for stock parts, go in stock section then browse... ect.. Walleee
I also think the effect of wanted topics would die off, unless people actually have stuff for sale, they won't bother looking in, and if they have stuff for sale, it'll be on the FS board anyway. With wanted topics where they are they do get seen by everyone, and i'd say a fair few people who don't even have anything for sale will look in just to see if they have what the person want's, or just out of noseyness, regardless it's still being read.Personally I really don't have a proble with the FS boards other than people having 'dibs' on things, but then I guess with having a bunch of kids using the forums that has to be expected
TomR
How its divided is another story really, could just as easily be done as Mod parts, Mod Bikes, Stock Parts, Stock Bikes.
