streetjibs
hey guys... need some help or opinions on this one... thanks in advance!! ok i ride 24inch ashton et (for over 16months and its just recently died ) I have a curtis T24 on order which will be my replacement. I mostly ride street but have alot ALOT of natural just near where i live so thought id like something 26" and more suited to natty for those times i wanna embarass myself in the natural habitat! So, idealy id like something not superdooper loooong and nothing with a bb higher then cypress hill. The ashton and the zenith have taken my appeal as they are both similarly priced (yes zenith is bit cheaper!) and both have similar geo and weight though the zenith is bit longer. Anyways i thought id put it out there to all you people who ride either of these bikes... as to which would be a better purchase. Itll be only used a little as il be out on the streets in curtis style most of the time. Anyways any help, info or advice be greatly appreciated as always... Joe Papasnap Maher
Zenith > Ashton.(ive owned both)To be honest they are both very similar....but the zenith is just a shed load stiffer...Like alot.I loved my ashton when i had it, so flicky, very nice. But i got the zenith...it was just as good as the ashton..but with that something extra...the va va voom Up you you....but for £200 with king headset...you certainly wont regret it..(but if u do get one...change the f**king colour...as they ming )

Joe_Elding
I REALLY dislike ashtons, I rode my mates for a few days when i was thinking o moving to stock and it was horrid, first off it was rediculously sluggish on the backwheel and for gaps and taps it felt like youd put all the power through and it would just get absorbed by the frame, rather than actually go into moving the bike. Ive had a go on porters aswell and it felt pretty much the same.I've never ridden a zenith for longer than 5 minutes, but th one i had felt mint, I'd go for that Edited November 18, 2006 by Joe_Elding
Has anyone seen my shoe?
In short it depends what you want to do, streety stuff - Ashton, big stuff - Zenith
Prawny Baby
having had both, and recently changed from an ashton to a zenith, id say go for the zenith.i loved the ashton to bits, but i couldnt tap it to save my life!i just felt the 1055 wheelbase was fractionally too short for my style of riding, and the listed +20bb height doesnt happen either....the zenith is a LOAD stiffer, and a lot more inspiring to ride. manuel
Id say the ashton ...I just prefer them over the zenith - they suit ME better .... just have a go on afew peoples bikes before you decide maybe ?
Fish-Finger-er
price for price, id say itd be down to personal preference, but as mr maher says. for £200 on ebay, you get a brand new zona zenith, with a chris king headset. meaning your gettin it for a hell of a lot cheaper than the ashton.(even if you dont want the headset, its got a nice high resale value brand new on this forum). and at the end of the day the zeniths pretty much a carbon copy of the xtp, which is a far dearer bike. Radfax
wasnt it bigman that went from a justice to a zenith? he said he was kinda gutted that he had left the justice but he much preffered his zenith by quite a bit.
abtrials
i have a zenith and it is so nice to ride, i have never really liked ashtons and i have heared alot of people snap them? go for the zenith
Brian Bleech
I ride a 24" and although I have never ridden a zenith (which look nice) whenever I have a go on an Ashton, they just feel right to me. I think its a combination of the tightish headangle and lowish bb.Quite simply if it was to get a stock for natural and stuff (which I would do if I could afford too) I would get an Ashton no questions asked

RobinJI
i have never really liked ashtons and i have heared alot of people snap them? What the?? I've only ever heard of one snapped and I vaguely recall another cracked one on here some time. This bloody forum, every time a bike cracks/snaps everyone instantly assumes that loads of them do and there really weak. They sell thousands, a few are gunna break, get over it, I've seen more broken Curtis's to be honest, doesnt mean there weaker than Ashton's, they were just older and had been abused allot. Joe Papasnap Maher
f**k off... i dont care if youve had both, there both completly diifferent frames for two completly different styles of riding,...??? does that mean...??you cant do some stuff as you be able to to on the other ??I the ashton to me is a street frame...and the zenith....is more than capable of doing streety shit..Or am i missing the point..? endofreak
I'm in the same boat as My Maher and Prawny Baby. I recently changed from an Ashton to a Zenith and I personally prefer the Zenith.
