DGrabiec
For my own reasons, I'll be switing from a 72 engagment hub to a 48 engagment hub. I'd love to go out and just test the difference myself, but i live up in nothern Canada so there aren't many / any trials riders here. Anyways, of course there is going to be less engagments per revolution of the cranks, but is that difference really THAT big to be worried? Thanks in advance,Dan Edited November 17, 2006 by dandaman555

Ali C
I went from a king to a hope pro 2, took an hour to get used to fewer engagments, you'll be fine
carnagr
I had a King, friend has a Pro Trials 2, barely noticable.
Mat Smith!
You do notice it, but it doesn't hold you back at all, I could ride with an ACS and still not get held back, but I can feel the difference from my King, but my mates Profile isn't any different really.Mat
Ducko
i run a king now couldnt go back to anything else, as well as being fast to engage it also feels really solid, when i ride a bike with another hub or freewheel it just doesnt feel up to it anymore
GTF
I have tried bikes with Hope Pro 2 hubs (48 click) and bikes with King hubs (72 click), amd hardly notice any difference..
Orgun_Donor
Short answer - NoYou may notice it, but aslong as your going to a good quality hub, you wont notice any difference unless you concentrate really hard
26inch
yeah, going between my pro2 and mates eno i havnt noticed any difference really, certainly not in riding even if it feels slightly odd
Mr Motivator
Going from a 21ept Hope to a 72ept King or Eno, has NO difference. However, going from a high engagement to a low engagement is quite noticeable for a short while untill you get used to it.Meh, anyhub will do as long as it's a king, hope, deng, profile. Krisboats
Boumsong went from a king to a hope mono and after a little while his riding had actually improved, no more random stampage... he was pre-loading them peddles.Same with conner going from being used to his eno to using my hope xc, after half an hour or so he was fine with it. MikeCottTrials
i dont notice the difference going from my hope mono to pro2 to king and back again, but maybe thats because ive only had little goes and i havent really thought about it whilst on their bikes
eskimo
I think your chain tension had alot to do with it aswell.I noticed the difference between a Eno on the front and a rear Profile. I do run longer cranks with the profile though. But i don't ride trials much so it didn't make any difference to me when riding. The fact that i did notice it to begin with was proberly because i was aware of the engagement change.

Tony Harrison
When my King went for a service, I used my spare wheel, which has an old Hope Sport hub in it with 21 engagements - didn't affect my riding at all...
