Concussion
I went and put a hi-rise stem on my rex to see what it was like............Have to say I'm loving it, in that it feels SUPER comfy on the rear and generally more comfortable riding etc. So....... what's all that about then / why use low rise stems / would a frame with a raised bb feel even better? I'd love to have a go on one!Admittatly, I can't tap stuff (with or without this stem), or do more advanced moves etc, so I'm not to sure of it's long term effects! So anyways, should I stick with it or convert back to my 90ish-5deg rise stem before I get to used to it? Greetings
Well, if you like it why change to the old one? All I can say is that a high-bb frame does feel odd even with a high stem. It's about the wheels being "under" you, not as much about the body position. Obviously once you get used to one, it just feels like an ordinary bike but at first I remember having to look at the pedals when getting onto it because they were just so high up.I'd say a low bb frame with a low stem feels better than a high-bb frame with a high stem. Low bb's are incredible for taps and gaps.
Orgun_Donor
Thats not really a high rise stem, This is high rise - http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/large_hifistem145.jpgBut you as ash said all personal preference. I recently put a mod stem on my stock.... awesome for manuels, but you shouldnt do much else on it, was way to high!

Concussion
Iv'e been thinking of doing that , but that stem doesn't really look that high rise , what degree is it ?Ur`m I don't actually know, bit of a difference to my old one though! I guess if it makes me happy I should just leave it on I guess! I'm just the type of guy whose like "what degree do you tilt your bars at"... so I don't fug up the handling! -stupid!Or go the whole hog and get a hi-rise bb bike. Krisboats
To be fair it isn't a high rise stem at all, i'd still class that as a low rise stem personally (anything under 30=low IMO) there is a large amount of spacers but i have about the same myself, i couldn't go back to using a lower bar position now, in fact... i'm thinking of going from my 110mm 7 degree rise stem to a 130mm 20 degree rise and losing the spacers. nafan
Find someone with a GU Typhoon...Has anyone tried a high rise stem on an 05 pitbull, it has +10/15mm bb rise and I use a 5 deg. stem, it is good for long lurches but on the backwheel it sometimes gets difficult...Nathan
