Winter Riding

I feel the effects of the cold. But a lot of it is to do with if you keep riding or not. I found that my body went stiff and just unrideable last night after a bit of a rest, I felt cold and it was difficult to get that 'energy' back.

Keeping warm helps a heap I reckon.

Winter is a bit depressing, especially when it starts to rain in conjunction with the 4:30pm darkness. The dry summer evenings with 9pm or so sunsets were just too good.

Hey,

i don't want to sound all healthy and Sh**.

but since your body takes a lot of his energy to keep worm, you need to supply him more energy.

and that starts before the ride, you need a good meal 4 hours before the ride. and while you ride you need a lot of food that brakes up fast, to keep the body up and running.

Since we consider trial a sport and ourselves as athletes we need to act like one.

i have been eating right for the last 6 months, and i found out that it really helps.

i recommend. :)

Thats the stuff. Although it's soo hard to force yourself into a routine of doing it.

Im not worried about this winter business, I've got my shorts all lined and ready (Y)

I know your just ripping it but some of us actually do it.

The cold. No one comes out which is the worst. As long as it's dry ill go for a sesh. My feet feel numb for about an hour though. I tend to sweat and learn no matter how cold it is.

But the darkness is the worst! -15 here we come. (Y)

Pussies! Winters in the UK are so warm you can ride with your fireman exposed.

I think you get more tired in the winter because you have to ride non-stop to maintain a high body temperature. I find that the only problem is my hands, the fingers get cold and stiff which makes barking more difficult. Maybe just eat 2 ounces of butter before you go riding? The thought of throwing up should keep your mind off things like cold.

once you've been riding for a few minutes then you get warm its only when you take a rest you suddenly go all stiff and tired and cant be bothered anymore .

That's very true...Well for me. (Y)

i don't find it that bad i still ride in shorts and a t-shirt B) once you've been riding for a few minutes then you get warm its only when you take a rest you suddenly go all stiff and tired and cant be bothered anymore .

I find if i sit on a wall or bench to rest that's it, i've then had it and just freeze up. But if sitting on the bike then for some reason i still feel enthusiastic.

Get Fat :D works for me everytime...

Nah i just find having the optimum ammount of clothes on helps. Like the other night i had a t-shirt and long sleeve t-shirt over the top and i could ride without getting too hot and chillout for a bit without getting too cold. Tried riding with a t-shirt and hoody and was too warm when riding so had to keep taking the hoody on and off when i was start/stopping. Get some gloves too. Or be super cool and go chav by tucking your trousers into your socks. bling.
