Ben Beckett
the more time and effort you put in the better you will be and the faster it will be to learn!!if you watch trials vids e.g neil tunnicliffe's etc and watch their technique and to get inspiration this helps loads in the development of your riding.lots n lots of practice is needed to learn fast...... Grizzly
This is a pointless thread, practice - also the fact that everyones different, ive done a 4-5ft drop and ive been riding for 1 1/2 months. In my opinion that sucks, but hey, some people learn quicker than others! I would have thought that would have been obvious - guess not Edited October 25, 2006 by Grizzly
kyle-livesey
ive been riding 2 and a half years and now ive only just got to 44 inch side hops and 46 inch taps its all about practice
matt rushton
Practice thats all i can say . Don't go trying 6ft. drops if your not confident on back wheel, or you will just hurt yourself "don't run before you can walk" and then you will be wanting to give up trials who cares if someone does something before you don't push your self too hard.Matt Rushton Edited October 25, 2006 by matt rushton
Ali C
everyones different, I am amazed at how quickly people are learning these days though, it took me a year to get backhops sorted and I didnt even start sidehops until 3 years later! Sammmmy
lol ali i was about the same, i think its beacause we had to learn on xc bikes and not magical bikes with built in back hop/sidehop buttonsThat sounds pretty logical
PaRtZ
lol ali i was about the same, i think its beacause we had to learn on xc bikes and not magical bikes with built in back hop/sidehop buttonsahhh I remember those cannondale thingymabobs I learnt to kickhop in a month  and then it just progressed from that By the way kids, how high you can drop is not how good you are. I can drop about 12 foot but that doesn't mean im good. Even if Ben Savage has dropped 15ft it doesn't make me close to Elite status

Do-M
how longs a piece of string... As long as two half's But, as everyone else said, you just need to practice. How do you think you learnt to ride a bike in the first place?
mrBENN
All depends on if your a quick learner.
eskimo
everyones different, I am amazed at how quickly people are learning these days though, it took me a year to get backhops sorted and I didnt even start sidehops until 3 years later!I could get up walls 3 foot tall before being able to move forward on the back wheel. Apart from the occasional wheelie. The first real trials bike i had was a Monty x-hydra 219 with a seat. That was 2 years into riding. Then i gave up shortly after and started bmx for 3 or 4 years and now here i am again but with a lonnnng bike. But it doesn't matter how much you practice to a certain extent. You learn quicker if your having fun. It's hard to push your self when riding alone and i find i always get alot further with the help of friends. Brian Bleech
ive been riding 2 and a half years and now ive only just got to 44 inch side hops and 46 inch taps its all about practiceI have been riding 8 years and have never done that
poopipe
I have been riding 8 years and have never done that I'm guessing your bike is lacking the aforementioned magical backhop & sidehop buttons. My bike has them but 2 1/2 years on I still don't know how to work the buggers.
