Dr Dig
hi,most people have a disk brake on the front and run a magura (hydraulic rim brake) on the back. for info on these brakes id suggest going onto tartybikes.co.uk they have a wee explination of the brakes Edited October 23, 2006 by cal d
Dan6061
Personal preferance.I run a 160mm Avid BB7 up front on my Zona. - Mechanical disc brake. And a Magura HS33, Plaz pads on the back. - Hydraulic rim brake.Ali C will tell you to get a V. - Avid Ultimate..Becuase he prefers them compared to a Magura. Tommy d
DAM RIGHT I WILL! I was waiting for that...Don't think anybody has mentioned yet that you don't need a front disc if you don't want one. Magura HS33 (i.e. hydraulic rim brake) or good quality V-brake will also do the trick. It's probably easiest just to get whatever type your frame/forks are compatible with unless you have a preference. Jaffacakes
Dual maggy all the way. Disk's suck Except filthy cable disk's I suppose, The rotor's still like snapping though...
Phil H
Dual maggy all the way. Disk's suck Except filthy cable disk's I suppose, The rotor's still like snapping though...Wouldnt go as far as to say disks suck but I run maguras front and rear and seem to do the job! As I see it a disk is just more likely to get destroyed but what do I know - If good riders use Disk up front and magura on the back I think that says enough.Phil
Chris Elson
Front disk , rear maggie, i wouldnt go with dual disk. But wouldnt mind going with front and back maggies. Cant beat a hs33
quasi_mojo
I've been using an LX front V with a BMX lever, works lovely, but i would say that because i have to make do at the moment, rear maggie is essential, although one of my riding buddies uses a rear disk (the frame cant accomodate his huge try-all rim!), with abit of cola on it works lovely too...i think my front V is lighter than a maggie with a booster, but i don't really use the front brake that much! try using bikes with different brake configurations and see which you like best...at the end of the day its your bike... kid creole
Dual maggy all the way. Disk's suck Except filthy cable disk's I suppose, The rotor's still like snapping though...dual maguras are ok but it means you have to buy 2 sets of expensive pads when your grind eats them . but with disks the pads take forever to wear away ive never replaced them and the brakes perfect saves money i think.also with front disk you can whip the wheel off in a second to put the bike in your car if your going somewhere Edited October 24, 2006 by Alain
afro dude
On my DDG i have very good v-brakes but there a bit sluggish but on my other bike i have magura's and they are so much better. But some people have front disc brakes and back disc brakespersonal i think having a back disc brake dosen't fell as good as a backmagura. But a front disc is ok. But the choose is yours.

Im thinking of gettin a avid bb7 for xmas built onto a echo rim with , hmmmm, not sure what hub yet . Anyway most people say with the bb7 get new cable and lever or is the lever and cable that comes with the disc good? P.s. Ali C
the avid bb7 is very good! best disk out for trials I think. They dont come with cable or lever though, so you have to buy those seperatly.PS get a vee!!!
