Connor Powell
Landed on my thumb yesterday at the Dj ride, Carried on riding it for the rest of the day despite it being swollen to twice its size, Today, its exactly the same still massive and hurts like f**k, Dont think its broken because i can move it a little, Give a half assed thumbs up but i cant touch the bottom of my pinky where as i can the other one. Think its just bruised but any other ideas would be great.

Think its just bruised but any other ideas would be great.A few weeks ago i was mucking about and smacked my hand off a wall. Hurt abit and started swell but didnt think anything off it and carred on mucking aroun. Went to the docs the next day cos my gf was nagging me to. Turned out i had a really bad fracture in my hand. Might of needed an op on it to warp wire around it. So you might want to get checked just incase.

Do find out if its the bone (rib) or the muscle that is hurting. If its the bone, its safe to go to the doc and get a x ray =)

Jan Tore
I just can't understand how straining an ankle can hurt more than dislocating it. My ankle was totally dislocated and f**ked, but I didn't even notice it before I saw it. Didn't feel a shit. Clearly it was worse after taking the support bandage off after a week, but still, no severe pain.

My ankle was totally dislocated and f**ked, but I didn't even notice it before I saw it. Didn't feel a shit. Clearly it was worse after taking the support bandage off after a week, but still, no severe pain. Adrenaline, ripped nerves etc. When i crushed my foot i felt pretty much no pain for 5-10 minutes, managed to take my shoes and sock off, lie down and put my foot up, after that time it started to hurt, Rich Pearson told me to squeeze his hand, using my weak hand i had him trying to let go after 15 seconds injuries are weird. Clearly it was worse after taking the support bandage off after a week, but still, no severe pain. Dislocating or breaking a bone is relatively non-painful because bone's 1) Don't have a great deal of nerve tissue connected to them so you generally won't feel anything and 2) bone's aren't ligaments or tendons, which when you sprain them hurt like f**k because they ARE connected to your nerves and pain receptors. Bones are also relatively easy to heal, whereas ligaments are extremely complex muscles which take a lot of time and physio to fix. The doc will be able to tell you whether it's minor or specialist help is needed. My dad has been given a series of stretches/exercises which help to prevent back pain after lifting/whatever since he survived a car accident a few years back. Mighty effective too, without them he'd still be on pain killers after doing anything physical Also Alistair- make sure you warm up and down if you have back pain, strectching before the warm down and rest your back if it develops pain, if it gets worse then have a look online for stretches and stuff or see above Another pointer, posture in everyday life, it's everyone's pet hate and the reason everyone hates being told about it is because you all know its true! chris4stars
Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with a pain in the elbow area... basically, it feels like a dull (though quite intense at times) throbbing ache at the base of the bicep, though it feels a little deeper than that? the pain comes pretty early on in a ride in only my left arm, despite any painkillers. I then have to rest for an hour or two untill the pain has almost gone away, after that it is fine... im finding that the pain for some reason completely weakens the grip in my left hand...like when you wake up to a dead arm and can barely squeeze anything, and at times the pain randomly comes about during the night, often waking me up!? anyone with a similar problem, let me know how you dealt with it. if you did seek specialist medical advice, let me know what exactly their opinion was. thanks! omgnoseat
I've been having a very troublesome pain in my lowerback for a few months. During a ride I was just balancing on the rear wheel when I felt a very sharp pain shoot from [area in the picture] to the hip. Giving it a week or 2 rest pretty much heals it enough to do the basic walking up stairs and such. But whenever I try to ride the pain slowly return. Ecspecialy when I raise my right leg I can very clearly feel the pain in the area. My left side is perfectly fine. Ignore the text, it has nothing to do with my problem. the area i'm refering to is the highlighted circle on the top right. I've been to the docters and they sent me to the hospital for a scan, but they didn't see anything. Anyone has any idea what this could be? I have no idea what has caused this, I wasn't making any extreme movement whatsoever. Miss riding so much

rugbyman
Does anybody else have Osgood-Schlatter Disease in their knees, or is it just me? My lad had it, you'll grow out of it. Last Thurs I had a fall down some steps onto some concreet. I've ended up with a grade 3 collar/ shoulder bone separation, torn back and shoulder muscles and a black eye....... fun eh
