plainlazy84
f**k, that guy is awesome. think he would autograph my chest?no.Jeff Lenosky is the man. So many memories of watching Evolve over and over again. If you have been riding for as long as he has then a change of direction and style is probably the best thing to keep it all from getting stale. But then he probably can't tap 55" or whatever consitutes a good rider these days, so therefore he sucks.
Brian Bleech
that first video was ace - that was one of the best mtb street sections i have ever seen!the jeff daddy rule, I love his trials style especially the evole and the wheel deal

Krisboats
That was some awesome footage, chases riding didnt really do much for me but his little hand plant over that branch on the dirt jumps was awesome.I can't believe some people dont think this is good riding. Just because it isn't the conventionally boring and repetitive hoppy hoppy style of todays impressionable youth doesnt mean its not good riding. I think some people ought to stop breaking down riders into categories and saying "thats not trials is it!". Or is it the fact that people have gotten into the mentality that trials is purely hoppy hoppy UCI moves and have lost all ability to register something unique and original as being remotely trials orientated. Guest
eeerrr? what? isnt that where we all started? and im sure lenosky was riding wayyy before youNot in my eyes, Trials started when some spanish guy made a Mod. What im trying to say is that I generally don't have time forvids which are not of pure trials. When trials started people were not doing wall ride's and bar spins, nevermind f**king handplants! Perhaps they were on BMX's but not trials bike's. The point I was trying to make was that I dont see what these guys do as trials, however many people call it that. What's it got to do with how long anyone's been riding? I said it impressed me. TomR
They call it urban freeride anyway. IMO its more BMX on mountainbikes, eitherway i dont care what its called its great riding, good style and i love watching it. Some good lines picked out too. I think to call it trials would be an injustice when it's so much more.EDIT: urban freeride eh? well there you go. Im glad I now know the name of it, cheers Edited October 21, 2006 by jake1516

Fixed Pantsâ„¢
This isn't how i remember NWD, it's mean't to be absolutley MAHOOSIVE jumps on mountains and stuff, not street. Me no like. Good riders though.
Mark W
Hmm.There's just something about that video that I really didn't like. I know I'm gonna get flamed to arses for this, but nevertheless...Basically, that was largely like watching a mediocre BMX video done with crappy style. For example, that up to rail ride to barspin and to 180 out. If you go into the Little Wheels thread, go to the last page and watch the 3 sections of Fitlife in there. You'll see that very same line done, but it'll be done way faster and smoother, simply because on a BMX you have to. The thing with MTBers doing street seems that they sorta limit themselves by the technology they're using. He's got a pair of disc brakes, and as such he was using them on every trick when he didn't really need to (having seen BMXers do the vast majority of the non-trials tech moves in that vid before at most with 1 brake, often totally brakeless). It's just a reliance on stuff like that and sus forks that seems to sorta stop them from really doing progressive riding, instead of just copying whatever the latest BMX trick is, but not doing it as well/as smoothly. It's cool 'n' stuff I guess (that last wallride was pretty big), but until they start doing their own thing more and making the most of the fact they've got different advantages with their bikes over BMXs, it's just not really going to go anywhere apart from BMX's footsteps. Bessell
Seem to be going down that road again of what is trials? When i think to be fair trials is what ever u make it or what ever u want it to be.... There true TRIALS heros in my eyes they can ride however they like!! I've had a few months off and i'm just getting back into it a bit of the old boys who were heros back in the day would go down a treat. I think its time to watch Evolve. Jez
At the end of the day, lads, it's not trials. It's not BMX. It's not MTB. It's somewhere in the middle. Whether you like it or not is pretty irrelevant - we all have our preferences. What we're looking at here is the skills these boys have, and considering that very few of us can actually ride like that, we're not really in any place to criticise.Personally I don't like the style much - I'm not a BMX fan, and the riding there looks like 90% BMX and 10% trials. That 10% is probably the reason they're on MTBs as opposed to BMXs. But I do have immense respect for what those guys pulled off - they can fooking RIDE. What im trying to say is that I generally don't have time forvids which are not of pure trials. You obviously haven't seen Evolve or Revolution then? Yes, Jeff is riding more street these days, but he was doing 'pure trials', videos, demos, magazine features and so on 10 years ago.
