shaggy
Hello i have set up my wireless internet and all has been fine for a good while. But i have suddenly dropped in signal strength and speed. It's dropped from very good to low and from 56 mbps to 24. The router hasn't moved nore has the computer. Do they always do this? And would a better router be any good? At the mo i have the one BT sent me, the wireless card in my pc is a linksys G adapter (802.11g).Cheers James
Tomm
The two things that can make a difference is which way the aerials are pointing, and if there's anything in between. Or the weather, probably. These things are a bit temperamental! But try fiddling the aerials
PaRtZ
Check the settings on the admin page thing to make sure its not reset/been fiddled with to broadcast the aerials at 50% or whatever it isTry resetting the system? Ony if you know how to get your current settings back though
Extreme_biker0
Are you cooking a MicroPizza in a microwave which is in the line of sight of the two aerials? If so, wait 2 and a half minutes, eat your tasty but lacking in healthy nutitional value and high in salt snack then try again. Also, make sure you havent built any brick walls in the LOS of the two aerials, or any Lead/Uranium/other dense metal objects. Or made a Faraday cage around one/both of the aerials. Or accidentally placed a coil of wire through which is passing alternating frquency voltage at a certain frequency in the billion hertz range nearby.Or if one areial is travelling away from the other at close to the speed of light it would f**k up the frequency. All of these are hazzardous to your WiFi network, trust me. Grizzly
O get this problem sometime, i just restart my router and modem. Make sure the antennas point up, but diagonally toward your computer if you can. Does it do it often or is this the first time?Because linksys are normally good with networks, i have a d-link, and it has the same problem
