Tomm
I have just got so used to using a browser with mouse gestures (I.e. Firefox) that I really hate using IE. Apart from that, there's the whole security thing, and it's faster etc etc. No real reason in favour of IE to be honest. Oh, and Firefox 2.0 is out today. Get it while it's hot (and downloads are slow).

abe
since reading this topic I have downloaded firefox. It is a lot better, but addresses always disappear when you close the program so I always have to retype the address I know that sounds lazy but it is annoying.Edit:sorted it now thanks Edited October 28, 2006 by abe

Tomm
I've just moved over from Safari to Firefox, just because of the extensions really, plus I think it's slightly quicker. The improvements in Firefox v2 are basically the advantages that Safari used to have - now there's not much in it.But there's one thing I really miss from Safari - When you press CMD (Ctrl for you PC types, ish) and the number 1, it brings up the first shortcut on my toolbar, and so on through to 9. This is really useful. Does anyone know any firefox extension to make firefox do the same? Pretty please

anzo
Click MeA program like that, its only a trial though, may be easy to find a crack...if you want to of course Basically its a program that triggers text when command prompts are used.So for example you could have http://www.trials-forum.co.uk and set the prompt to 'CMD+1'. So click in the addy bar, press CMD 1 and trials forum will automatically be typed, then press enter or whatever 'ok' is on your strange contraption. Its exactly the same software that you orginially used, however its an external program instead of being built in Edited October 28, 2006 by anzo
Tomm
Actually, you've just given me an idea. I use Quicksilver on my Mac (it's the greatest program evar) and you can assign a hotkey for anything you like. Should have thought of this earlier really. The only problem is that it's not Firefox-specific, so I guess it might interfere with other shortcuts in other programs. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for making me think about it though

Tomm
Search the firefox extensions. There is loads for hotkeys.Where? The only one I could find was this one, and it's damn complicated.Meh, I might go back to Safari. I miss the fact that it can open PDFs in the same window/tab as the rest of what you're doing. Might be something to do with that. Edited November 6, 2006 by Extreme_biker0
Olly C
Disable cleartype in effects in appearence in display properties in control panel in start menu. Might be something to do with that. Its definately that BUT that only allows me to change overall Effects, it doesn't change the IE effects, I need to disable cleartype within IE, just trying to find it now..Edit: Tools>Internet Explorer>Advanced TAB>Multimedia Section> Then turn off "Always use ClearType for HTML*" Job's a good'un! Danny
Cleartype is much better on TFT's once you get used to it. Yet looks horrible on CRT's.It looks really weird at first but removes all the pixelation from text. Try enabling it in windows and giving it a bash for a few days.
