James_Porter
I dont think you have the lastest issue James. The rubbish Akrigg feature is in Issue 205 - 2007 preview issue.dang, if only i was rad enough like chris and his dog. the photos i have seen from that trip look amazing though, chris should have put his makeup on for it, looks a mess. Tony Harrison
Martyn has earned the right to express his views in a big mag like MBUK.As far as his comments go (going by what I've read here, as I didn't buy either issue), I think he has got a good point. Him and Martin were important catalysts in the trials scene because they made it look cool. They had nice looking bikes and didn't go around in geeky one-piece skinsuits (ok, after about 96/7 they didn't...). Watching them ride made me want to get more into trials.Recently I've been getting bored. I love watching stuff like the Trial Noir DVD, etc, but a lot of the more 'UCI-style*' videos bore me. Yes, the riding is of a VERY HIGH standard, but it's not the same. So, I can understand his issues with the 'pixie boots/trackies',etc - it sort of makes trials look a bit like it used to - not street and cool, but comp-focused, 'pure' and specialised.I suppose I think this way as I got into trials because I wanted to 'do tricks and stuff' on my bike when I was a kid. I sort of ended up in 'trials' and while it's ok and fun, it's not really the same, and it's not as satisfying as 'the old days'.Apologising seems a bit much to me (stick to your guns!) but I suppose he doesn't want to create a divide and discourage people. If everyone rides for themselves, for their own enjoyment, then we should all be happy. In theory...*Yes, I know, it doesn't make sense, but you know what I meanP.S. What was the thing in Japan about? Nick, does he really not have a front brake? Most other riders that would look crap, but I suppose it's Chris showing that he's just a true master of the bicycle...
