martyn i hope you read this. well done and thank you, your column showed that you would even take the ideas of a 15 year old into consideration. that shows how open minded you are and how you can empathise with other peoples views, it means alot.

but also, this months MBUK has a lrge amount of trials in it, Kenny Beleay, Vincent Hermance, Akrigg and vittorio Brumotto. where the Beleay vs Hermance i thought a lot of good points were raised about the sport, why it isn't that huge. I also really enjoyed reading the timeline of trials, there was alot of stuff that I didn't already know in there.

it was basically saying how, his previous column had upset a few people on trials-forum, and said he would prefer to see people out riding in trackies and pixie boots than not atall. then he went on to say how we dress doesnt appeal to other bicycle diciplines, even though most of them consider trials amazing.

The Chris Akrigg in Japan article was rubbish. I mean he calls himself a trials rider then rides that abortion of a bike with a seat and no front brake. Trials bikes dont have seats anymore Chris, wake up.

LOL

I can see yet another big seat/no seat and short/long bike argument spooling from that! Might have to go pick myself a copy up though and catch up, its only been like 4 years since I brought MBUK >_<

why?

Cos you know what people on here are like! Quite a number of people seem to be unable to embrace the varied and unique styles of people that arent "pure" trials, whatever the hell that might be! Hence Im guessing why you made the sarcastic comment :)

Wasnt having a dig at what u said :(

Yea when i was in hospital i got my 1st ever NEW mag of MBUK and routed though it for the trials parts

i was well interested to see what he had to say and all he did was slated most of the people i ride with

i mean if he doesnt want us to ride in trackies what does he want us to ride in??? ive tryed most items

but even in trackies i get really bad betty swolloks - jeans like kills me!!!!!! so my 1st reaction was what

a cock we have enough people telling us what to wear an how to act - an trials is 1 of the things i can do

without my parents, teachers and other friends who dont ride having to put there imputs in its what i

wanna do

so i was like f**k you ashton!!! but i guess an apology is something and i understand how much he has

done for the sport - with his frames, riding and collum writting. might go out and try an get my 2nd MBUK

and see what he has to say :Plol

i really would like him to be on the forum - i know theres a lot of bullshit but id really like to hear more

of his veiws on the sport (as he obiously has some!!!) - but nice to know he still cares kinda thing.....

what issue is this???? i brought one, november i think and there is none of this in there.

November 06 p182 on the left side collum

In short - "in common terms these days is "chav trials" which comes from the tracksuit bottoms being worn by many riders." more worrying than 1 peice suits worn ages ago "well i hate to say it but it looks terrible. mix the chavvyness with the ridiculas pixie style trials shoes many riders wear and you are verging on madness." blah shoes offer support and comp rules "but ive seen people wearing them on the street."

then ...

"honestly guys think before you go out riding. just say no to your tracksuit and throw your pixie boots back into the enchanted forest. normaly id say wear what you want but trials needs to be a cool sport and we can all help to achive it by avoid wearing bad clothes"

........ didnt write it all out so sorry if i gave a unballenced veiw of it - but these were the bits that hurt me most!!!

In Martin's defense - a column is supposed to be thought provoking and get people talking. Often when writing columns, you'll find yourself playing devil's advocate just to get a reaction. In reality, he's doing that. I didn't even know Martin HAD a column in MBUK until I saw the threads on here. So as far as Future is concerned - job done.

I'm sure there a many people that agree with what Martin has to say, but he's at least got the courage to stand up and say it - knowing full well he'll be shot down for it. Someone will always disagree with your opinion - especially in something that is heavily opinionated (like a column).

Ashton only gave his opinion. Like everyone does on here...

You don't have to do what he says, he doesn't control us. If you disagree..then just do that.

Don't start saying he hates trials and wants us all to be the same blah dee blah.

He could've meant it in a friendly, jokey kinda way? :ermm:
