Bast*rd Adapters

right, today i got my rock pads and my set of those onza v-daptors (allows you to put magura pads onto v-brakes). so as soon as they came i went to fit them (as you do). and they are the hardest thing ever to set up, you either have the pads touching the rim or when you pull the lever it comes all the way back to the bars. i finally set them up so neither of that happens, but now my calipers are pointing like diagonally( i didnt spell that right did i) and every time i pedal my legs hit the calipers. but when my legs arent in the way my god those rock pads are good.

sorry about that, i just had to have my little rant! <_<

you need all the spacers in, as thats how you adjust the angle to make sure they sit flat with the rim.

you will notice they are curved and fit into each other, theres a thin one and a thick one which can be swapped round to get the angle of the brake arms correct.

The little piccy I've drawn shows how all the washers and spacers should go together. The two differently sized spacers are, of course, interchangeable depending on how far away the rim you want the caliper to rest. Having the two convex spacers pressed against the caliper like that allows you to adjust the angle at which the pad hits the rim :)

The wide the Vbrake arms the better as they have more leverage on the pads!

nope the mountings for the pads on the arms (the slots that let them move up and down) want to be parrallel when the brakes fully on

anyway, this is why those adaptors are a pile of wank, unless you run a skinny rim in a frame designed for a stupidly wide rim, cos they splay the v arms out so much otherwise, id suggest getting some heatsink v brake backings and whacking your pad material in there (Y) much better system and you wont get stupidly wobbly magura pad syndrome :) soooorted (Y)

cheers for that mate but that is how i have the spacers at the moment and i think my rim is too wide so it still makes the calipers at a dodgy angle.

ye i think i will probably do that now, i cant be arsed with messing about with these adaptors. ;)
