TomR
What boosters are shallow enough to clear the seattube on a Base TA26? My standard maggie (04 model) one clips it so i can't fit it if my brakes adjusted properly.Carbon wold be nice, Dunno if Mr Maher's got any carbonique ones kicking about, theyre apparently pretty shallow. The first one i thought of was whitehurst but theyre probably long fizzled out of existence.
CurtisRider
when i ran a maggy back in the olden days, i had to just grind out a little flat spot from the booster so it didnt hit the seatube, sorted i found making my own steel booster was the only way to get anything stiff enough though
TomR
To be honest i think '04 maggies look shit ayway, i don't want to make it worse by filing bits off. Although i will if i've got to.
CurtisRider
well, you havent got much choice, unless you cut a groove out of the seatube? bit extreme though, i doubt you will find an aftermarket booster that will be low enough solve your problems and more by getting a v brake, looks tidier, works better and doesnt need a booster soooorted
TomR
It cant be that hard judging by the amount of clearance there is at the top of the tyre, thats obviously mainly for mud, which a trials bie doesnt see much of to be honest. and the maggies are new, so im not getting V's. Onza Kieron
Filing is basically the only option or cutting your seattube down enough to clear it which is a bad bad idea. File it Dammit!
Zoo_Monkey
yea you have to file down the booster - or bend it up slightly but id just file it
TomR
Im not really after how to mod the current booster as thats obvious hot to do, im after slightly shorter boosters if anyone knows of any. The magura one from the line between the hole centres to the top id 75mm.
the judge
Carbon wold be nice, Dunno if Mr Maher's got any carbonique ones kicking about, theyre apparently pretty shallow. My Carbonique 2 bolt booster is 72mm from the line between the hole centres to the top if that helps you. So it's a little smaller than the standard magura one

TomR
Anyone got one of these ZHI B1 or B2's that could measure one up? Also it says for 100mm mounts but what are the tolerances on that? http://www.trialsman.co.uk/products.asp?cat=15 Edited October 21, 2006 by planetxpimp
weebryan
Heres what i did when i had a ta26, file/buff a small bit off the old style maggie booster and use a v brake booster(tektro the one i used or similar ) for the bottom bolts just like a 4 bolt boosterpic of boosters
RobinJI
I know there's a carbonique booster knockign around between my mates, Either alan or Bo has it, and I know neither is using it, Could probably arnage something if you wanna PM me. Also The booster that WeeBryan has used on the Vee mounts is indeed a tectro (sorry, not sure if he was saying it 'is' or he thinks it is similar) but I've got a gold one im my shed if you wanted that. TomR
I've been talking to Joe about the carbonique boosters, and im pretty sure i've actually got a tektro booster kicking about somewhere, i'm just trying to find all options before i spend any money. Want it to look as neat as possible really, and i think if i used my tektro one it'll look tatty as it aint in great condition.
Danny
I run an XTR booster on mine with a slight modification to the seat tube.
TomR
Looks pretty smart Danny. I want one of those seats again but i think i may need to stuff a bit of seat post down there to reduce the chances of snapping.Does that flex much? It looks as it'll allow it to flex a bit as the top bolts aren't supported in any way.
Danny
No flex at all. There is a standard maggie booster on there aswell.
TomR
Ah didnt see that! Oops :$ Looks like quite a good option that, it'll go good as my brakes black.
