Sam Nichols
Right, I'm looking to get myself a camcorder primarily for making a portfolio for uni but then obviously once I have it i'm going to want to make riding videos as well as other video projects [wildlife and shizz]. So basically I'm looking for something decent! I have a fair bit of knowledge as far as cinematography goes and I do know a bit about the camcorders themselves but I'm not really sure what to go for. Sony HDR HC3 To me it looks pretty much ideal. I had heard something about not being able to change lenses on sonys but found out this isn't right and there's a fairly decent range of filters and wide angle lenses available.. So no woes there. I was hoping to be able to run an external mic, but this one doesn't accept it - I doubt it'll matter too much though.. Just hoping someone might help me to confirm that this is a good choice! Don't really want to waste my money! Also, does anyone think it might be worth the extra couple hundred quid and getting this one.. Sony HDR HC1 Any ideas, opinions, advice will be VERY much appreciated!

yoyoyo
No offence, but you did write clever people which rules out about 80% of the forum. Might be worth pm'ing someone like jonny(Trialmedia). Who do a lot of stuff with filming.
Jonny Jones
The more money you spend, the better camera you will have. If its for uni, get the HC1. Also, dont bother with Jessops.creativevideo.co.ukI got my camera from there! I have the HVR-A1E and I went to their showroom in Warwick. AMAZING place, staff know everything and they even lined up loads of cameras just for me to look at, nobody else was due to come in, the effort they went in to, I bought the camera there and then! Bought a tripod, large capacity battery, headphones and polarizing lens.Hope this has helped dude!Jonny.
Sam Nichols
Very helpful, just needed a second opinion really!I've been doing a lot of research and the HC3 looks a bit crap now ompared to the HC1.But yeah, I hate spending lots of money without advice from people Shame my budget doesn't stretch to the HVR-A1E but meh..HC1 it is then Ta.
