Phil H
Firstly, the trials at the Excel Bike show was phonominal, Especially the speed rounds where two pairs of riders went head to head over a course. Awesome. Met Martin Ashton at the show and got his autograph :)He was wearing a cap and normal clothes. Me and my mate were standing at the hope stand and in the corner of my eye I saw a guy standing next to me but didnt think anyting of it. Then my mate goes 'Dont spazz out but thats marting Ashton standing there.' He was a really nice guy. The funny thing was hardly anyone at the show seem to recognise him when we saw him but then again couldn't have been too many trials riders there. And the coolest bit of the day was after the last trials show I called out to Danny/Dani ( ) Butler (legend) and after chatting for abit persuaded him to take off the Onza rider shirt he wore for the trials comp and give it to me I think I mite give it a wash before I wear it haha. O and I got the autograph of Ben savage - he didnt actually talk maybe he was in 'the zone' or something. All in all an AWESOME day!Phil

Wright Pads
Mellow as f**k, as if every one was stoned, or mushromms etc no gave two shite if they could do this or that or had this and that.No if there 2 of you and you wana go on the same run or soemthing it get f**king nasty but back in the day no one gave a f**k.What the need for all the silly big moves, non. I'm loving small techincal things. I have never ever seen CLS or Tuni do it, they just jump off the next to the next yeah there good but it's not what trials is about.Trials was a blance of life and your own controle, a way too really get on and meet people. Yes it's still that today but you have to have this bike and parts and do these moves and you have the tenquie as this.Yesterday was the 1st time probs form 2000 that anyone was really decent enough and gace some prope help and constice critaisum..i was trying to teach my self how to sidehop properly, also not from back wheel up but both wheels off the floor same time. it was cool and i got it 1st time and there after every time but it was cool. Sunny day at the rocks, all spread out like, really chilled and just having fun and laugh.Trials aint F1 or football, if i want that kinda thing i'll go to Cwmcarn for dh.Not even Ashton, Hawyes keep it trials what it was now really. Ashton sold out, Hawys well we duno do we and the god fatyher of it. The crazy Asutrian with the pony tail (well not now) Hans Ray no way is the only one keeping it real.Meh maybe it's cos im getting on a bit and was ready an 1998 mbuk when i got in last night...i duno

I have never ever seen CLS or Tuni do it, they just jump off the next to the next yeah there good but it's not what trials is about.I see what you mean and that is preety bleak. But then again there is always the point that competition does bring a riders performance up and does make trials more of a 'sport' (which could be a negative thing to you) When it comes to the massive moves I agree in some contexts. For example yesterday's trial comp was not about big moves atall. It was 100% about skill and control. However when I look on the internet at trials videos alot of what I see is riders jumping from a wall down to a smaller wall/rail. Im not saying that isnt amazing but it is bring to see it so many times - people need to develop new stuff sometimes. I know what you mean about being chilled also - it is the way to go. Me and my mate are nearly the only trials riders in our whole town which is abit crap but when we ride its completely chilled out. We never talk about who is better or make competition in our riding - which I find fun as I compete in other sports. Phil

He just kinda achknowledged me speaking. What I kinda thought was gay was when on the team like quick race thing his partner has comepletely screwed up and he was miles behind like the other team had nearly finished and he just sat there with a pissed of look on his face. I mean fair enough it meant he was dissapointed and he couldnt have won that race but I stil lthought it was like giving up.Phil
Max Quinn
Yer i was there aswell. The speed trials was amazing! Really fun to watch and really got the audience going, one of the few comps (as in bike show/nass almost demo type comps) i've been to that really had the audience shouting and involved. The rest of the show was fun aswell, apart from the 16 year age restriction on the testride track which it didn't say o nthe website anywhere. I got there after my friends and one of them had already said he was 15 by accident so then he wouldn't let any of us in. Was a really good day out though, lotsa freebies an whatnot. I'm stocked up for life on puncture repair kits for free! Did anyone else see the cyclair pumps? I brought one for £17, they're amazing, soo small but so quick to pump. I thought he was like 12. Was he actually competing? I saw him muching around on some obstacles but not actually in the comp.Phil
Ali C
ash is 13 and wasnt in the comp, he was buisy fighting the guy in the inflated maxim (or whatever) suit.I had an awesome time, I am knackered now though! The sections were super tough, shame we couldnt practise on any of the obstacles, but I wont complain after all the hard work that went into making the show a sucsess. The speed trials was amazing! So exciting, my nerves were shot. I am pretty happy to have beaten savage in one race though were you the lad that won the helmet but then got it stolen off you in the crowd? That totally sucked ass! I wish I had seen it happen so I could had a "talk" with the person who stole it. I hope you like your t shirts anyway.

I wish I had seen it happen so I could had a "talk" with the person who stole it. I hope you like your t shirts anyway. There was also another one similair to that that i saw right in front of me. A tee shirt was thrown out and was going straight to a kid who looked about 8, had his arms up ready to catched it and looked so exited and chuffed! Then a fully grown man from a few seats behind leaned right over everyone, whipped it basically out of his hands and handed it to his son who looked about 19! The lil' kid looked really sad an i'm sure the tee shirt will just go to the back of that guys wardrobe.

No one was handing out shirts but I had a chat with him and managed to get it off him. (I like to think my asking for it started the shirt giving out on the sunday ) )Yeh I was preety happy getting the shirt I would have actually fought someone for it if someone had tried something. Well done beating Savage in one of the races that was - awesome!Phil
yoyoyo
its cool, weve all been there, i wanna go back to them days I remember the first time i got Ashtons autograph.
