BONGO
i Was a Seargent in the ATC, 1026 Ormkirk in Merseyside Wing, Wales & west It was the best thing i ever did. I was there for about 5+ years and in that time i went to Cyprus for 2 weeks to RAF Akrotiri, Flew in Wessex, Seaking, Gazelle, Puma choppers, Nimrods, Hercules, Bulldogs, Chipmunks, Vikings and also got a gliding scholarship in a powered Vigilant glider. I shot L81's, L98's, SMLE's, SLR's, went all over scotland, Got My D of E silver (was too old to fisnish gold as i had to leave)Lots of my best friends are through the ATC. Seriopusly the best thing i have ever been onvolved with. It matured me and taught me so many life things like interview techniques, teaching techniques and leadership etc.If you are young enough to start, you should definately do it, It's not for everyone but if it suits you it will be an amazing time to take with you into your adulthood. One of my best friends is now a FLT LT in the RAF and went to Qatar 3 days ago on a 5 week post as he is now a Tornado Navigator. I have friends in the poilce, Navy, Army, and RAF directly becasue of the ATC.bongo

adamtrials
I'm a Corporal in my schools CCF Raf cadets, it's pretty good fun.We get quite a bit of flying and have night excercises which involve lots of silliness with fire...Summer camps are really fun too. I found it a bit shit before promotion but now it's better. As for the Nescliffe thing, I live right near there If your staying indoors the accommodation is alright and the foods ok.They have a SAT range and a climbing wall which are good. Gavyn.
i was in sea cadets for 4 years but i got board because the people who ran it only cared about them winning some canada trophy (for the best unit in britain) cause we'd one it 5 times before. so i left and i'm glad yeah saling is fun but training for a pulling competition (rowing) for 2 hours 6-8 in the morning then 6-9 at night every night of the week is not fun at all even if you do get a shitty medal at the end of it. Im a sea cadet, and i can officially say, that pulling is the hardest thing you wil ever do...its impossible, it hurts sooo much. Yea i really enjoy cadets, ive just come back from my district guard training, which was awesome fun. Just rifle drill is soooo boring. Ive got loads of experience and friends in cadets, and my best friend is also in cadets. We do night exercises and loads of E.T. (exbed training), got my bcu 2 star in canoeing, alsorts. Its really good fun

Its ok, when you wear webbing, as that stops the flaredness, as you wear gaitors around the bottoms of your trousers. Well there drill, they must be really shit, because if done properly our drill looks shit hot....non of this stamping that the army cadets do. Pulling, is basically rowing, but your with 5 people. One steers and tells you what todo, (coxswain), and the others basically row. Doesnt sound to harsh, untill your training for the pulling competition, and as im the biggest and strongest cadet, i have to be stroke(stroke, is the person, who rows, and everyone keeps in time with). We used to train every morning and night, for 4 weeks....3 hours per session. Its soo hard, your sitting there pulling your nuts off, and everyone else does sweet F/A... That be the one, the Sea Cadets round her have the 'fainters' reputation at big events. The ATC down here is so much better at drill then the Army and Sea cadets its unbelieveable. The Air Cadet number 1's are awesome, look so good.Especially with the hats. That pulling thing sounds cool, I was part of a rowing club until it got too expensive for me to carry on, it was cool.I got well fit really quick. Ours was really sloppy, untill I started getting overly picky, and people found it annoying and sorted it out. Annoyance is the key, works all the time. If my cadets misbehave, i make them bail(empty) out a bucket of water, which is located on the bottom of the river..
