RicH_87
they gave me driving lessons for my birthday.and dad loaned me the money for insurance so i could pay it back monthly with no interest. had to buy and maintain it all myself though, as i expect everyone should.i used to hate the snobby kids at school who would brag about their amazing car, that they we given, insured on their mummys policy and maintained entirely by their daddy."your car is a shed"...yeh well at least i paid for it myself. on that? u must be joking
I got lessons and test for my birthday, and was luckily able to drive my dad's car on his company car insurance so did a bit of learning in that. We had an old banger (Volvo 340) sitting on the drive and after I passed my test they insured me on that. I think I was quite lucky but there were a fair few people who were being given new cars at the same time.Andy

Tomm
Everything that wanted doing to my car I have to pay for myself, modifications ect.Wow, you mean your Mum didn't pay for some new body kit? That's harsh Er, me: My parents basically paid for lessons and insurance on my Mum's car. And now (5 years on) I've inherited my Mum's car. It's not worth a massive amount but it's definitely nice. So yeah I had a pretty good deal I know a guy at uni who's my age (and a student) who drives a Mazda MX-5. Bit of a piss-take really! CurtisRider
ive been ultra lucky, my grandad gave me and my brother 700quid each for lessons, then we had to pay the rest (intensive courses are rape when you fail a test!) which was ultra good as it mean it could afford a new bike but it wouldnt have bothered me if i had to pay for it myself. car wise, again i was given a car....buuuut, we have had it 11years, she needs some work and is a bit of a shed, so it wasnt really worth selling, however its a mechanically sound thing so i really cant grumble, i have to pay for repairs which is fair enough i managed to pick up a spare cavalier for 50quid and ive stolen several bits off that. im on my dads insurance, but i pay the extra on top of what his would be without me on it, i also pay for the insurance for me to be able to borrow mums car incase mine breaks down

fairy elephants
I think my mum paid for my provisional, and my tests. She also taught me to drive. My sister gave me her old car because it had broken down.Basically i just had to fix the broken car, and pay for insurance. It does annoy me that prople get their insurance paid for, they get a nice new car, all their lessons paid for etc... Paul - bedfordtrials
My Parents paid for the first like 20 lessons, then I was on my own. I was insured on my mum's car while I was learning so i could practice, then as soon as i'd passed, they ended the insurance. While I was learning, I was working every hour availible to afford a half decent car and insurance. Annoy's me when Mummy and Daddy pay for everything when people like myself work hard to get what they want.
Sam Nichols
My parents paid for my first car, my insurance, all my driving lessons, my theory and my actual test. Also, my dad bought two morris minors one of which will be mine once we've finished restoring them. I love my parents.
