lawrence osborn
Hey guys,I have a front mono trial in my house waiting to be mounted on to my bike. But heres the problem i was looking at it the other and could slide the disk in between the pads easily, then i looked at it a few day later and no matter how hard i push the disk will not go between the pads so can anyone help me please?Cheers Lawrence
munkee
You need a flat head screw driver in between the pads to push them apart it needs a bit of power to push them open. When your front wheel hasnt been in, you or someone else have pulled the lever in causing the pads to move together. Since theres no disk in there the pads have moved so close together you cant put it back in. Edited October 5, 2006 by Spacemunkee
Lee Cable
Simple Fix, take the pads out, using something like a nylon tire leaver, and push the pistons back in. Then put the pads back in, and it'll be fixed.
lawrence osborn
How do you get the pads off :$
shovel
just prise the pads apart with a flatblade screwdriver, saves you taking the pads off. then until you put the brake on the bike put some cardboard between the pads to save it happening again.but. . . . to take the pads out, remove the circlip from the retaining pin, push the pin out, pull the pads out. refitting is obviously the reverse of that
Willsey
i had this exact same problem yesterday with a hope mono trial... just prise the pads apart like the say and screw the gurb screw inside the lever right out so it has more distance in the pads, and slowly work it on but dont be too harsh on the pads
RicH_87
or, if the caliper came with a plastic guard in it when it was new, find it and push it back in.

nmt_oli
Ahh, someones used a split pin instead of the new style screw in, maybe they lost it.straighten the pointy end with pliers, then use pliers on the round end and just pull it out. pads should then easily come out of the caliper.
