tomturd
Make sure both computers are on the same network group (eg MSHOME), then set their IPs to be in the same range. Eg, 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2. If one of those computers is connected to your internet though, that might screw it up.Thats just a suggestion (digging up distant memories)

Extreme_biker0
Last time I had this problem it was because the TCP/IP protocol was not installed on one of the computers neworks.Double click the icon, press properties, then in the bottom half of the screen click install and install the TCP/IP protocol, on both computers. Then restart both computers and see if it works. PaRtZ
[attachmentid=7371]If your box is missing all the information (or it says obtain IP address automatically) click the "use the following IP address".Now click on start menu>run and put in "cmd" without the quotation marks obviouslyNow the box comes up, put in "ipconfig /all" EXACTLY like that just without the " againYou should get something like this only possibly without the wireless details, depending if your pc has wireless or not:[attachmentid=7370]Simply input the red data into the fields. If you box has an IP address and other data already filled outRead the blue bit in the picture above Edited October 5, 2006 by PaRtZ
spode@thinkbikes
Think the last guy answered this. But just a minor clarification. Because you are using a crossover cable, there probably isn't a DHCP server around to assign the IP addresses. So either install ICS or something on what of the machines, which will come with a DHCP server, or just assign the IP addresses manually as above.
