An_toin3
hi all so, here's the deal, I just wanted to take my bar off my stem to put it on another one, but the problem is that when I unscrewed the bolts on my stem (echo stem), it started to creak pretty loud, making me worry if my handlebar are still good At each bolt, it creaked very loud, just want to know if it's normal, it's the first time in over a year that I undo the bolts I have some zoo! bar, (old school style, when they were 720mm ) I know they are well known to creak for no reason, but this time I don't think it's that !So just want to know if it's normal or should I get another bar ? Thanks
nmt_oli
Creakign when undoing bolts is normal, expecially if theyve been left a while and its two dissimilar metals.in furture, assemble them with a dab of grease ont eh threads. Prevents creaking and siezing, less likely to strip threads, have stuck bolts. Also allows you to get more accurate torque setting if you use a torque wrench. justfuzzit
Yeah, its a lack of grease on the bolts. Its a good Idea to go over and check all of your bolts every once and a while.
Trials Punk
Thats fine.I wouldn't just dab some grease on there, pack it in there. Less worry, unless you worry about weight?
