Linux,laptops And Usb Wireless Adaptors

er.

righty. I'm asking here because asking about this sort of thing on linux forums results in people telling you to recompile your kernel or install alternative versions of the OS and other such shite i can't be bothered with. If I ask here I figure I'll get a much simpler answer.

Does anybody use a USB wireless adaptor ? ideally it'd be really, really small and have been proven to work on xubuntu/ubuntu/debian with the 2.6 kernel - only needs to go up to 54g and i don't mind spending a few quid.

decent ones you've used on windows would 'probably' work so if there's one you've been particularly pleased with it'd be nice to know.
