Gaz, if thats you, then :o

I think using the front wheel is cheating, as its no where near as hard to get height. I tuck naturally, although im still trying to get higher.

tis indeed gareth. i was extremely impressed by that pic gaz (Y)

and i go to front wheel but don't go as much to front as i used to :turned:

If I go to my right I go to 2 wheels but hardly tuck at all and im really off balance

If I go to my left I go to front wheel and kinda tuck and im really off balance

I go higher to my right at the moment too so im screwed either way lol

so far my sidehop technique has served me well( to front wheel and closer to the wall) but now i'm stuck i'm trying to get 7 blue pallets(45.5inches) and i'm not to far from it at all but i've hit my fingers about 50 times trying when i preload i can't quite get far enough away from the pallets so hit my fingers or if i get it right i miss my front wheel and land on my f**king fingers.

i found lately that stalling before i take off makes quite a big difference, also a slight hop before i take off also. ive been watching my technique on my videos and it looks as though i dont tuck at all, whether thats a good thing or bad thing i dunno :)

im liking that pic though (Y), but everyone has a different style and youve just got to work with what you think is best. ive watched video after video and tried immatating different techniques to not much sucess so gave that idea up, since then my sidehops have gotten alot better.

my advice would be just go with what you feel is right :)

:D:P yep, I try to actually turn during the front-wheel approach, by about 40 degrees or so, from having the front wheel outward the wall, to inward, that means more commitment to the front-wheel landing, and at least, you won't miss the edge because the front tire will not be parallel to the wall (not a hit or miss scenario)

For landing to both wheels, yeh, just preload and stay more on the rear when jumping... When I do too much of one technique, I kinda forget about the alternatives...

Id love to be able to sidehop high, its one of my biggest weaknesses. I think some of it is down to the weight of my bike... but im not light (12 stone ish) so if i go lighter things are gonna break. Well impressive how high people can get, i think i need to take a leaf out of Tricks and Stunts book and practice practice practice. Hope you get where you want to get to Dave! (Y)

I doubt its got anything to do with a light bike Gaz.....Neils back ends heaviest abg of shit ive ever picked up and he can sidehop way into the 53's. More to do with leg power and lifting power.

Biff what he ment was if he has light components he will break them, which he wont, and a light bike does help. If neils backend wasnt so heavy he could probably go higher. And sidehopping is all to do with the muscle fibre, Well it definately is when you at that level

Well ive got the technique nailed, just need to get my height back up now, its strange taking off so far away.. i also set up at an angle so im not paralel with the wall its easy on smaller walls like around 40" but an extra 5" is difficult. ill get a pic tmoz hopefully. or a video on summet smallish.
