tipsy Jock
Hmm they reckon he has Brain Damage Also reckoning its the end of Top Gear.Yeah, looks like a good opportunity to get rid of that show that glamourises speeding and doesn't make the connection between the road, speed and its dangers. I can't imagine life without Top Gear Saying that if the beed drop it Itv or C4 will pick it up in a second!Pete
yoyoyo
On the news, Clarkson said he looks forward to him coming back to work again. And i'm guessing he knows better than the press. Seeing as he will go in to see him.Lets just hope for the best.
JT!
I'll be very suprised if top gear is on this autumn. I think there wont be another top gear episode for the best part of a year to be honest. It just woudn't be right.

I think there wont be another top gear episode for the best part of a year to be honest. It just woudn't be right. But top gear was around long before Richard Hammond, sure he seems like a nice enough guy, and he's a good presenter, but he isn't top gear itself. Its not like its parkinson who's injured so no one can fill in for his show.I'm sure he wouldn't mind anyway, so as-long as the other people want to do the show, then why can't they? It's not morally wrong or anything. He was driving a rocket powered car, he knew the risks.I hope he gets well soon, but him being injured shouldn't stop people doing everything without him. This world has gone do-gooder crazy. When a driver gets killed in motorsport, they don't stop the season, when a football player gets injured they don't postpone every match until they can play again. JT!
One question, did he break the landspeed record as i heard he was trying to break it?He wasn't trying to brake it, but he was 'unoffically' trying to brake it. So it was all offical, but never had any intentions what so ever to brake it. He just wanted to be one of the fastest people in the UK. b'mouth trials
I actually couldnt believe it when i heard this morning, it has really upset me quite badly today. Steve Irwins tragic death and now Richard Hammonds accident, probably two of my favorite TV personalities ever, really has shit me up.I remember only a few days ago watching him in the zonda when he was speechless and all he said was..."im gunna do that again" Really did have me laughing.REALLY hope he gets better soon, thoughts go out to his family. Greetings
Yea obiously people usually come out un damaged from 200-300MPH crashes after all dont they!!!............. no Not usually, but often. For example in drag racing, drivers very often just walk away if they are capable of leaving the "cockpit". And we're talking of similar speeds here. Still it's a shock to hear what has happened to Hammond. I can bet my boots that he'll be back in the program as soon as he's ok. And as far as the word stable is concerned - it only means that his life is not at risk.

I heard them on the news saying that car was from 2000 when the record was broken and I'm sure they didn't have Jet engined Drag cars back in 86? May well be chatting bollocks there and if so sorry but yeah just they said the car was from 2000...

Dr Greenthumb
YES!Jeremy clarkson visited him in hospital and said something along the lines of "the only reason you crashed is because you're a crap driver"it provoked a smile so hopefully he will get out with little permanent damage

Ali C
doesnt look like it slid very far for 300mph unless the pic is cropped.I thought he was testing the car for top gear or somthing, I didnt realise he was proper going for it! Shaun H
doesnt look like it slid very far for 300mph unless the pic is cropped.I know I wouldn't like to slow from 300mph in that distance. It looks to me and my Dad (drag racer so sorta knows what to look for) that something broke on the car, causing the massive gauge before the car even started to veer and that caused the Hamster to lose control and the car to crash. It was on the news last night, same pic, that white line is where something on the car broke and gouged a line into the road, causing the crash. The pic above is just the point at which he lost control, so it had slowed down considerably by that point!DaveyHaha, damn Shaun H beat me too it, now I look silly...... as always!
