Buying A Trials Bike

Rebelistic

Recommended Posts

At the weekend I went all the way to Supercycles, only to find that they have closed (N)

I wanted to buy a new trials bike (possibly the Limey) but I'd like to be able to see the bike before buying.

I was told that I could arrange to see a bike in the onza factory but Ive been unable to contact them.

Are there any (real shops not just online) shops that sell top end trials bikes or do I have to buy online?

It seems a shame that trials bikes are so rare in shops as I don't know anyone who rides the bikes Ive been considering and I'm reluctant to buy a bike I've never seen. I'm after a complete build.

Any help would be great,

cheers (Y)

I think one of the main problems is, that the people who wanna spend alot of money on a trials bike mostly wanna build up their own spec bike!

So I suppose shops dont see the points in having loads of £1000+ bikes on display if someone would only buy it with different forks/bars/cranks ect ect.

I think for the bestest stuff you're stuck with the online shops! Allthough someone like Tartybikes will actually talk to you and give you good customer service and stuff, unlike most online shops that dont give a poop!

Hey i dont get it you went all the way to super cycles and they were closed. They have moved upstairs above that new bike shop that is there now. If you give them a ring they will open the door for you and bring out what every you wanna purchase i have done it a few times now they are pretty safe with it.

I don't think there's a trials specific 'walk in' shops in the whole of the uk. It's just not popular enough and it woudn't be viable having an actual shop. Hence why there's so many online shops.

Mind you though i wouldn't have traveled all the way to supercycles without phoning first.

Thanks for the advice (Y)

I would have phoned before going to supercycles (I wish I had) but I've always been ok in the past on Saturdays (I knew weekdays were a bit dodgy) so I just went, didn't expect it to have turned into a Ralliegh(sp?) shop. The guy in the shop did try and phone supercycles but no one was there.

I've just spoken to supercycles and there are no more lineys anyway so I'll go to Tarty. I like the look of the Adament bikes but don't know how they ride. Has anyone got any comments about them?

I ride an onza T-Rex (old model) at the moment and like it but I think it's a bit short and heavy.

Thanks again (Y)
