anzo
Ethernet Card for your PC, costs around £10. A network cable, usually about £15 or so for a Belkin one (Highly recommended, lifetime warrenty) and a second ethernet card for your hosting pc if it doesnt have one already.Basically install both ethernet cards, DO NOT plug the cable in straight away though, windows should pick the card up and install it automatically...in an ideal world. Then use the Networking Wizard to set up your network.Fun the wizard on the HOSTING pc first (one downstairs) and add the PC upstairs as a guest user. That should work...however, as its a computer and using windows, it probably wont be that easy

In that case you just need a spare ethernet/network card (same thing) for your new computer, and a network cable between the 2. That way it should work even with only your computer turned on. Danny
If your modem has an Ethernet connection (Not USB) get yourself a cheap £15-20 router. Will do the job much better than sharing the connection with windows.
Extreme_biker0
Cut the cable that connects the modem to the computer. You should find that actually there are 2 separate cables inside it. You can use one of them (extend it if you need, and put a usb pug on the end) to connect it to the other computer.Viola. Extreme_biker0
No. Every time this question is asked people just give the same answers over and over.People obviously continue asking because they want alternative methods
