PaRtZ
Just a quickie:Leave a stiff lever in a bath of gt85 to remove stiffness. How long should I leave (no pun intended) this for?ThanksPS: Whats the minimum length of time too cos I really want to rebuild the brake asap
N.Wood
It is the piston thats siezed? I removed mine with some pliers (watch out for the flying spring), cleaned it all out with GT85, wiped seal and everything, then put a light amount of grease on the seal and stuck it back in, works like a good 'un. craigjames
how hard was it to ge the piston out of the body because mines done the same on both front and rear brakes, master on the front slave on the rear, is the way you get them out the same for both front and rear?cheerscraig p.s. sorry to hijack the thread! N.Wood
Yeh exactly the same.Inside the lever there's a black plastic piece (the piston) where the pin of the lever blade goes into.I managed to get some pliers round the end and just pulled it out, all came away easily enough. I've done this on 2 levers now, both fully functional for over a year.
Bionic Balls
one of my slaves seized up and i bathed it overnight....tried pulling the piston out but it kinda mashed the pin bit (tis only plastic)....gave up...adam
Danny
To remove the piston from a old style magura lever easily take out the bleed screw and put an old spoke down the hole and push hard
PaRtZ
Well I did that and basically its buggered compeltly. Cant see any nicks or sharp corners which could catch the piston. Is the seal the white bit or the rubber ring?Any ways its pretty much dead
