durkie
i hear about people with old road frames with slightly ovalized headtubes shimming their headset with no problems....but has anyone ever tried it on a trials bike and had it work worth a damn? poopipe
Ive heard of it being done in the past with cut up bits of coke can.it used to be fairly standard behaviour on bmxs in the days of 1" headttubes - less of an issue these days cos they don't just flare when you look at them. I think theres an article with tips n stuff about doing it on the G-sport website somewhere
durkie
yeah i was thinking about doing it with a coke can...i was just wondering if anyone had tried it, because taps and such are surely going to put much more stress on a headset than just riding down the street. narrowbars
If you need to shim it then chances are the frames already on it's way out. You may as well shim it to get a little more use from it until you get a new frame.Using a shim will only be a temporary fix. A repair like this can last a while on a road bike but because of the stresses a trials bike takes the headtube will only get worse.
