Personally I don't mind the magazine, I don't buy it just for the trials section, otherwise its simply not worth buying. I never use the free stuff because I don't want 'MBUK' on every part of my bike.

Always has something worth reading about, I enjoyed the articles about the guy who travelled the world on his bike. I suppose its a win or lose thing, if you like it, buy it.

Have you actually tried emailing MBUK about their lack of trials coverage?

Not moaning, just suggesting.

And yes, I did read Ashton's article, and every month I think the same thing 'bit short and sweet'...but he guy has a point...the same point that about a thousand other trials riders have talked about over the past few years...trials is all height and distance.

But thats just how it is now, nothings really doing to change it all of a sudden, it'll just die out...but until then.

On the second hand, the guy runs a bike company, does demos and has a personal life...I don't think an MBUK is his main priority of the month.

Just though I would add that because Im proud of that. :P:rolleyes:

1. He's french so anything he says is void. :-

2.Things that stand out... i'd say tapping a 40' wall or gapping 10 feet would stand out to anyone, rider or non-rider. Although i get where your coming from.

But then what about downhill. Every year it's the same tracks basically, and all they do is race down. Each year trials is different. One person will backwheel something where another might sidehop up. It changes with each rider. But in downhill there isn't really much to do thats different to any other rider.

Trials is now ment to be the biggest thing out going!!! It's not it's always been mellow and the kinda underground thing and always will but many more people now know of it and ride it's disaplin.

MBUK is a laod of crap, good for nothing..bar the free biz.

They are not true on anyhting they say in there and are the biggest bucnh of sell out ever and also they rake a ton of cash in.

Fact cheers for reminding me they o me money form my advertizments. Oh just to give you an idea, the we small adverst that are a full page in height and 2.5'' wide cost £800 min for basic style each month and have to be done 3 months ahead..or where when i did the one for the rocket

just like you then!

mbuk is written for kids though hence why i stopped reading it when i was 10. plus cedric garcia is an utter c*nt and i wish he would stop being an arrogant b*tch. good old petey or mr longden need to beat him in the next world championship. a plot to hurt cedric (what a stupid name) is in order. bit low but owel i have nothing else.

The funny thing is that there is no media interest in trials to be lost.

The only people who make vid's and such are people who are riders, or who were riders or have some affiliation with other mountain biking disciplines. When was the last time you saw trials on mainstream TV?

cedirc gracia is about as anti frech as a french man can be, fabien barel is a stereotypical french man. why do you wanna hurt him and why do you think he's a fanny? the dude rides with speed and style and drinks and parties with the best of them.

bit of a bizarre thing to say about him, ive got to say it is a bit too much about feet and inches, maybe martin just wants to see the sport to grow and progress like it has been since he started riding the sport way back when.

definitely agree with mr ashton.

think the reasons the trialskings became so huge was that their style was very new. most vids these days seem to follow a trend of big gaps, sidehops, taps etc and on lines that have been done before as if to say look at me i'm good for doing this gap. true the riders in question have talent and balls for doing the stuff they do and i probs couldnt myself but nothing is inspiring me these days. there have been few examples of really varied videos to me knowledge (any one know of some point em out to me i wanna add to collection) rowan's vid was amazing, as was the 24 inch section in tm2. the 26twenty vids have a real selection of styles and bens riding is like no one elses ive seen (for those who havent seen any of the vids his style is very bmx oriented on a monty 20" - download the vids they are sweet really watchable). ali c produced some good vids a while ago.

we need more vids like trial noir, porters section of gaps and big street style set along side waynio's natural talent on the rocks (oh the pun), and akrigg's riduculous unparalleled style on anything he rides.

push your limits guys, instead of sidehopping a wall try manuallin/180 spins/stoppie to the wall, switch to back wheel and no correction hops up into the move. move away from the pull trick land and try flowing sections on street eg chainspotting; ashton in newbury over the benches (for those of us over 20 who remember that 18inch cannondale!)

think it might have been under pressure or the time there was that show with the tongues, the martins and akrigg showing all sides of trials on bbc2

I totally agree too! I think that trials definitely needs more variety. I watch a lot of these new vids and I think decent rider can do some good single moves, but say someone does a 45” sidehop from the floor up a square wall and have to watch another 10 sidehops the same height (or less) but on different walls. I mean fair play for doing your biggest sidehop, but we don’t need to see it over and over again. I just think that people need to take a step back from what they are riding and look and see if they any way they can link things together and make things more interesting for us and them 

I don’t mean everyone needs to buy a short bike or a 24” and start riding it like a bmx (although having 10psi in your tire, feels awful :P ) but just go explore on your bike, you might find something interesting to ride on!

Oh and Ashton on the bollards in chainspotting was awesome.

i often buy mbuk and think that emphasise is pointed in freeride direction. i bought the october issue, and also found cedric gracias comment puzzling. martyns column, gives a few valueable points and views. however,a few month bak he woz complainin about small framed seatless, mod like bikes.point a) ashton bikes are like that pointb) does t matter what u ride,as long as u enjoy it???

what he (THE GOD OF TRIALS) wants to see is trials big = (Y)

but to do this he is saying we basically need to show off and do tricks and play up to an audience - almost performing monkey in order to achieve this ? Problem is, I ride my bike for myself and noone else. I like somedays just to go out and see what i can achieve in the inches way too... However I also agree with the vid comments - a sidehop up a wall is a sidehop up a wall is a ..... people could really make some fabulous vids if they just used abit of imagination - as the riding standard is so high now. that would be a start.

But as for media bollox, well, the standard in the world comps is truely incredible and yeah probably justifies some TV action - but its not going to happen because of the small number of people trials caters for right now. Trials is growing - every year more manufacturers come in and make the sport more accessable and more riders start riding (even younger than ever it seems) which is bloody brilliant. Eventually it will have grown to be possibly comparable to the DH / XC / Freeride scene (although maybe not) and that will aso have grown enough to be really in the public eye... = TV

There is no fast track to getting trials massive (I think) - its a growing sport still - time .... time.. .. . . . . .
