JT!
Was going ok until I pulled the leaver and it started clicking as it went down, I thought this was just something on the leaver catching on the leaver body, but then I found out it was something on the actual brake. So I took the wheel out and tried to force the pistons right back out with a screwdriver. The piston on the left hand side (when you look down onto the disc as you ride) wouldn’t go all the way back, no matter how much you forced it.So I’ve now taken the pads out, pulled the lever a few times so they came right out, and pushed them back in with a screwdriver, and they both went right back in.So I thought that'd be the end of it, but now when I put the pads and the wheel back in, it doesn’t work. As far as I can tell, the pads move inwards, and are hitting the disc but there is no bite. It's as if I’ve got a really really spongy brake. The lever moves all the way to the bars.Any ideas? I can't bleed it myself as I don't have the tools or the know how. Also, when I got the bike out of the garage, the tyre was flat, and when I pumped it up, it went down again. But one problem at a time.
Synergy
its not that hard to bleed without the kit if you want to know you have me on msn mike_2124@hotmail.com
JT!
I'd rather not bleed it if i can get away with it.It's not like it's leaking (significantly ) and i've done nothing to it really. Just decided not to work.
Jaffacakes
There gay like that. Pump the lever a bit then go ride with it and all should be good...Since you pushed the pistons all the way back in the pads will need to adjust them selves back to the way to way they were.I cant help you with your tyre problem though Edited September 4, 2006 by Jaffacakes

It's like they're been ran on air.

It's like they're been ran on air.As I said hopes are gay, but they do usually mend themselves. Chances are you'll need a bleed for no apparent reason but every time his happened to my hope I just pumped the lever and it was all good until it next broke. If it's just not happening at all there's a little allen key TPA type thing on the inside of the lever so just tighten that up and it will sort out the spongyness. Greetings
Lol. What a silly thing to do Now that you have air in the system, the only thing you can do is to undo the resevoir cap, pump the lever and let the brake bleed itself, which it probably won't. If you don't want to get your hads dirty, an easy way of bleeding the whole system is to pump out all the fluid and poor some new DOT into the resevoir pumping the lever and making sure the resevoir is always full. Obviously the bleeding screw has to be undone. This worked with my M525 brake. Should be ok with the Hope as the system is the same.
JT!
But there's no reason why air has go into the system, it's not leaking. All i did was push the pistons back a few times.

JT!
While i'm ont he subject...Are the hope mono trials pads the same as the hope mono mini?If not what are they the same as?Need an 100% sure answer please.
Jaffacakes
The pads are a slightly different shape to the mono mini pad's, but as far as compounds go, the pads you get with the mono trial give off a dust which after a while terns the rotor a red colour (which looks like rust, but it isnt). This doesn't happen with the mono mini. So there probebly a different compound. You can buy a few different pad compounds for it though. Why is it you want to know? JT!
Need new pads. I've f**ked the other ones but on wiggle they don't have any 'mono trials' one so i need to know which are the same shape so they'll fit.
Jaffacakes
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=6050Im guessing this is where the wiggle voucher would have come in handy
JT!
Wiggle voucher isn't any good if you try and use it are CRC. I'm buying from wiggle anyway, and if you spend over £50 you get %10 off, that's why i want to buy the pads at wiggle, but they don't have the mono trial option. Jaffacakes
'Fraid the only pad's that will fit in a mono trial are pads designed for a mono trial

Jaffacakes
Give wiggle a ring. They might be able to get some in for you, or take some out of one of their mono trials?
