Mike W
thanks alot im going on tarty bikes now do u think i should get an isis bottom bracket ? mike.=)
Tom_
I would get an isis bottom bracket, because square tapre cranks round off over a long period of time and they round off very quickley if you ride with them loose. Isis is good as most quality cranks now come in isis so it will give you a better choice of cranks when you want new ones. Also there are more quality isis bottom brackets around than there are square taper. tom Edited September 4, 2006 by tom132

Tom_
I am almost completely sure the t-comp has a 68mm shell, just get get a tape measure and put it on one end of the bottom bracket shell (underneath the bike, and on the frame where the bottom bracket fits in not the bottom bracket its self) and just measure one side to the other.hope that made sense tom Edited September 4, 2006 by tom132
Jaffacakes
Yeah, it is 68mm It was 68mm on my t-master and that has the same geo, Its just made out of a different type of cheese.

Tom_
As you are riding a mod you will want 160mm crank arms. If you ran 170s they would be to close to the floor, the 170s are designed for stock bikes.tom
nearly.alex
the lengths are crucial if you want it to work, they smaller number is the length of the shell usually 68 or 73mm and there is also a bigger number 118mm or something which is the length of the axel. you have to get the right lengths to fit the shell and to make sure the crank clears the stay and the front sprocket is inline. Nice and stable, and 'cos you're getting more leverage it's a bit easier to get the explosive power down you need for a lot of trials moves. I can't ride with 158s or 165s any more For a T-Comp, you'll need a 68x128 BB if you're running front freewheel or 122 without. If they're square taper, don't over-tighten them or you'll splay the tapers in the crank arms and then you're done for. I did that with a set of cranks a while back and I could only run a Dicta freewheel (really shit) on there 'cos there wasn't enough room for anything else. Don't go overboard tightening the crank bolts!
Mike W
I think im going to use the echo cranks a skf bfr 300 bottom bracket and a surly screw on 13 tooth sprocket, do you think that sounds allright for my bike ? because i cant be bothered taking my rear free wheel off! thanks, mike

Mike W
Does a screw on sprocket count as a freewheel ? thanks mike
matt!
Does a screw on sprocket count as a freewheel ? thanks mikea sproket it totally oposite to a freehweel, a sproket (fixed cog) dosent move, where as a free wheel is designed to move. you should realy run a 12T fixed cog on the back, and a 18T freewheel on the front. Mike W
what would be best a try all isis or the bfr 300 ? are acs claw freewheels any good?thanksmike Edited September 5, 2006 by t-comp-mike
Mark W
ACS Claws aren't great, to be honest. Just make sure you keep the lockring tight if you buy one, but you'd be better off going for a Tensile freewheel. The BFR300 will be a lot better than the Try-All... Tom_
I would agree that you should get a tensile Although I have no experience my self I have a freind who has been through 3 ACS freewheels and has recently brought a tensile, and it is alot nicer and seems good quality, and has good engagement. No problems with it so far. Another friend of mine has brought a try-all freewheel which also seems good and has better engagement for not much more than the tensile. However out of the two I prefer the tensile as it sounds nicer and its rebuildable, which Im not sure if the try all is.And yea the BFR300 will be a lot better than the Try-All.tom
