Greetings
I know this isn't a constructive post but you'll do much better if you perform a search. This is a very common problem. Basically, you're interested in getting your disc de-greased. (edit: that's what you should search under, the methods described should help)Try bedding it in with water. Poor some water onto the disc and ride around braking, when the water evaporates, repeat (x3 at least). That might help. You might want to wash the pads and disc with some washing up liquid beforehand. Rinse it thoroughly though!! PaRtZ
I cooked mine (no joke) in a pan of boiling (duh) waterworked a treat...until i touched the disk putting it back on so I had to do it again
Mat Smith!
Wash the rotor and wire brush.Burn the pads with gas cooker or whatever, and wire brush.Try not to touch the pads or rotor, or wash your hands very well.Mat
nmt_oli
Dishwasher does disks pretty well too, can be useful to give em a quick wipe with meths or other clean solvent afterward just to make sure there sportless.new pads are best bet, other wise decontaminate as best as possible using techniques others have suggested. Then bed in using your personal method, evyone seems to have a different opinion.clean water and and long stops, but not too hard works for me, followed by the use of a bit of mud on the rotor (some mud works better than others, wierd!) to get maximum bite i find. AdamR28
You'll need some uber-degreaser to clean your rotor now Rob, and a new set of pads. Anything designed for cars etc will ruin MTB disc brakes in my experience. You could try meths on the rotor and boiling/blowtorching the pads, but it'll never be back to how it was
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Hmmm, i think i could do with some pads anyways.. cause the ones i have... are pretty fooked from using the wrong sized adaptor, and only using half of the pad on the rotor... but since i got the right adaptor, its been spot on...But the pads are fooked...Tommorow im gonna take rotor off, and blow tourch it, and then sand pads down, and blow tourch that aswell. then clean em with clean water. Then bed it in again....Shouldnt take too long i hope...
