It's a bloody hard way to make a living. Not only do you have to fight for work, you have to keep producing good results. Even if you work for a magazine or newspaper, there will always be a hundred people wanting your job.

Then you have issues of copyright, usage, chasing payment, all the legal requirements if you're freelance...

Take photos, work on improving yourself as a photographer. Post your images up here. If you want to do it above all else and are willing to work bloody hard, then go for it.

If you fancy taking a few snaps and making an easy pay cheque each month, then you're looking at the wrong career.

Get a photobucket account?

Very easy to do, and free :-

www.photobucket.com and follow the instructions...

Then, either post a link to the picture -NOT THE ALBUM- the picture, or highlight the bit next to the picture where it says "" (it'll be a little text box kinda thing) - and post that code in here. That'll bring it up automatically.

Hope to see the photos soon, add me on msn if you don't get it: flipp1@hotmail.co.uk (or email me if you don't have msn :P )

Well for a start you shouldn't need your girlfriend to tell you that you should persue your intrests, if your passionate about it enough then you should want to do it yourself anyway. Like Chris said there are hundreds thousands that will be more passionate and better than you. It's the same with everything, theres always someone better and you need to work hard to prove yourself.

Start off by posting pictures here and getting some feedback. I've done a quick guide on how to upload your photos, so now theres no excuse.

A few photos of your mates isnt really going to cut it, you need to be taking lots and lots of photos of all subjects, I know you may of only just started and don't mean to sound harsh but at this point the last thing you want to be thinking about is a carrear in it. Focus on getting great photos and also working in Photoshop tweeking them and presenting.

Have you had a look in the Random photo thread from chit-chat?

Hi

My dads a photographer for a living. Even though he doesn't take pictures of trials riding etc. He does weddings and studio work ect. He is always very stressed from work running his own business and never recommends it to me for doing it as a living. Even though he is doing wedding and studio work I would of thought it would be harder to trials riding because there is alot of people who would like to do that as a job including me so unless you know every pro/sponsored rider in england and could take pictures of one 5 days a week including in the winter when the weather is crap and back up all the files and still have good pictures go for it.

There is also the job of getting all the equiptment for the pictures which isn't cheap.

Robert
