When I when to my interview I wore black pants and a short sleved t-shirt, as it was bloddy hot. I got the job, so am pritty happy.

£3.00 Is a bit low though, I'm going to be on £4.20 and work 9.5 hours a week.

I have my induction for Halfords on Monday. I'm just going to wear a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt to that. I'm going to be there about 1 and a half hours watching a few videos and filling forms out... the joys

please dont wear a suit to go to halfords, all the workers will laugh at you forever.

i just went in shorts and tee :- , maybe jeans polo and black shoes

they make you wear black pants and the halfords polo so anything close to that would be cool (Y)

Black trousers, like you wear to school, and a white shirt, tidy, clean, and simple. Shows you actually want the job while not being too overdressed.

Believe me, there's nothing worse than thinking an interviews is informal dress, turning up in baggies and a zip up top, and realising it's formal and everyone else is wearing proper clothes.

I've done it, felt properly wick, got the job, but that's cos im f**kin' class.

I remember my interview for halfords. lol. It was just basically the manager asking questions about my social life etc, just getting to know me.

Just wear black smart trousers and a shirt. When i was 17 and working there, i was on £4.50 or something like that. I'm now on £5.05.

I'm a part timer and i dont get treated like shit. I know i'm a girl but the guy part timers dont get treated like shit either.

Good luck anyway. You'll get it easily xx

grrr halfords really annoyed me today. im now acting assistant manager though which is pretty cool. but anyway, if you work for them and when they say do you want a computer for £40 when that scheme comes back in again, out your salary and you say yes...make sure you dont leave until its fully paid off. other wise they just take all of your last pay cheque. happened to a mate today. all £1100 of it. real bad!

Just go smart/casual. If you wear a suit you WILL get the piss ripped out of you. I didn't have an interview, my mate phoned me and asked if i wanted a job and i said yes. I got it just like that. I think it took them about a month to realise i was there though

Your all wrong.

I work at halfords and when I went for my interview I wore a suit with a tie.

1) No one took the piss out of me, none of the staff whatsoever. They all pretty much just said I looked smart and said with hind sight they should have worn something equally as smart on the interview.

2) The manager of the store will be very impressed that you have made the effort. Any twat can turn up to an interview in a t shirt and jeans but it shows through if you stand out from the crowd. This will reflect in how well you can negotiate a position/hours/wage as it gives you more credibility.

3) Notice how everyone above has started on the basic halfords wage (on average 4.95 p/h for a p/timer). I negotiated an immediate salery of £5.55 and got exactly the hours I wanted as well as the position.

Wear a suit kids.

Ignore everyone above as it sounds very much as though they are making it up and talking from no experience what so ever.

Just tell them "I have good organisation skills, a mature outlook and a good sence of humour".

Your in (Y)

edit: I don't work in Hellfrauds, but I'm 17 and get £7.00 an hour. Just to rub it in :P Thats £707.00 a month working three days a week. Mostly get paid cash in hand straight from the till, so mr tax man is nice to me.

Jeez that must be crap working for that. Mcdonalds pay £4.25 i think which isn't too bad, but i couldn't get a job there 'cos 70 other ex yr11s applied at the same time...

Luckily i get several times that an hour working as a pianist in a restaurant occasionally B)

The minimum wage is what it is, a MINIMUM, its not a recommended wage. Although apprentiship workers are exempt from the minimum wage, so usually you'll find that some people are set on at about £60 a week on a full working week.

Personally, I wouldn't get out of bed for £4 an hour, let alone £3.

Tesco's ***!

Im a checkout bitch haha, good pay, piss easy work and you get the extra stylish blue checkered type shirts B):turned:

£5 something an hour when i turn 18 in a couple of weeks and goes up again after working there 6 months, £4.55 an hour at the moment which is good enough for me.

Usually have plenty of jobs going aswell.

As for what to wear to the interview do what everyone else has pretty much said, White shirt, black trousers and a tie...sorted (Y)

You must be superman to actually get 5.55 an hour, Specialists only get about 6 quid an hour and you don't get to be a specialist until you've worked with the company for a few years or had past experience.
