Bonney@X-Street
woo its my turn to go to uni this year and i want a wicked little laptop. been super convinced to by the macbook especially with the bootcamp feature. now i dont want to spend a mega amount on it so with the student discount £703 is alright. now i've been looking at THIS RAM on ebay and im quite prepared to pay that for 2 sticks to have 2gb o ram in it. i've always thought kingston ram was good but im just making sure im not going to do something retarded and kill my macbook before i even turn it on? so does anyone own one of the beautys, is it fast enough already to comfertably run autocad 2005 and 3d studio max and other animation programs. or is it worth me spending another £100 or so on 2gb or ram for it? Gilman
You should check out macmall.com for the same price as the apple store or from apple direct but you get multiple upgrades, whatever you want to upgrade.Matt.
Haz
The MacBook only has an inbuilt graphics processor and it will struggle with more intense CAD applications, such as 3DsMax. If it has to be portable, the MacBook Pro will handle the 3D stuff, however the MacBook will be pretty slow.
Grizzly
Ive got an ibook and that can run it so a macbookwould be able to anyway. Crucial is the best, its a little pricey but for memory it has the best, and it chooses the best one for you Edited August 29, 2006 by Grizzly
Tomm
Yeah it's dead easy to change the RAM. You can buy RAM from elsewhere, but I probably wouldn't buy it off eBay. If you buy from Crucial.com/uk (Like grizzly said) then they guarantee that it'll work, and it'll only be a few more quid.
