Final Cut Pro User's, Help

Hello everyone,

I have finally started messing around with my final cut pro that I have had for a while now.

I am haveing a problem importing a song into fcp.

I have tried (in iTunes) selecting a song and converting it to AICC but that doesn't work, though I read somewhere that I need to convert it to AIFF, I am not sure if that was a typo though.

Either way when I convert it to AICC, it copies the song and does not change it from mp3 format, and I downloaded the song so i can't simply insert the cd and go that route. The song was not purchased off iTunes BTW.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong, and if there is an easier way to do this.

Also I heard that there was a plug-in that will allow to use mp3 format instead of comverting it, though I am unable to find it and I am not sure if it exists.

Thanks for all the help in advance,

Matt.

I tried what you said, but then I realized that you probably ment to do this in quicktime pro, which I don't have.

The only quicktime pro that I have is what came with the installation for FCP. I don't know if it is possible to access the quicktime pro alone without using fcp?

So if there is another way, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

assuming you've installed final cut pro properly that automatically updates your quicktime to pro. what version of quicktime are you on, im assuming 7. and what version of final cut are you on?

if quicktime pro is working fine i cant see why you cant export to wav.

for the record, i was working on a project earlier in which i had to put an mp3 in, i just imported it as an mp3 fine. final cut 5.1 universal seems to work with mp3 fine! :)

i have always just used AIFF i found mp3 to have poor playback. on itunes there is an option to convert to AIFF.

i have quicktime pro if you want me to convert something for you?

Yeah, I read somewhere that I needed to convert the song to AIFF, I also read that I could do this in iTunes.

I went into iTunes into the advanced section and all I could find to convert to is AICC, if you could tell me where and how to convert to AIFF.

I am running quicktime 7 and am running FCP 4.5 HD though I did not purchase final cut I acquired it, but everything works fine with FCP except for adding songs, though I think that is my own stupidness.

in itunes go to iTunes>Preferences>advanced>importing>import using>AIFF Encoder

Yeah, I just figured that out about 2 hours ago.

I went to the advanced menu and only saw the AICC and couldn't find the AIFF one, then I thought I should check the preferences menu and then I saw it in the import area. Now I feel like a total dumb arse for not checking that in the first place.

Anyways thanks to everyone that posted trying to help me out.

Thanks again,

Matt.
