Guest
I understand it's heavier, I suppose the main benefit is that it's hard wearing?Just wondering why one would get powder coating rather than paint.....

Todge
Powder coating certainly is the way to go for finishing off a frame.Very tough finish, thick and smooths off all the joints. It DOES chip, but no where near as easily as a sprayed finish. Danny Kearns
bump!need to know tonight please guys about the weight!! cheers!I wouldnt of thought it adds a amount of wait that you will be able to recognise whilst riding.I would rather sacrafice abit of weight for a better paint job personally.Dan. Mooore!
If you're worried about how much weight it'll add, go for a dump and blow your nose before you ride to make up for it
Ra964
i think it adds like 50-100 g at most

chrishayton
If you're worried about how much weight it'll add, go for a dump and blow your nose before you ride to make up for it why do people always say that. weight on a bike is important. not for getting an extra inch but imagine in a comp. a lighter bike will help you keep going for a few seconds longer as its less effort to move your bike. it might seem petty but its useful to have a light bike btw i sprayed my frame ( powdercoated) and it didnt add any noticeable weight. Guest
As you've said, you might not notice most of the time, but when in a comp you might have rather have the extra few grams shaved off.Surley the people doing it can tell you how much weight it'll add as they are the people putting the stuff on??? Just ask how much they'd use generally, & take into condiseration that alot is not going to go right on the frame, so you can probobly take a bit off their quote, unless they take that into account before telling you..... Mooore!
chances are people say things like that in jest to try & lighten the mood in forums that are rapidly becoming more & more hostile. I'll keep my fingers tied up next time.
