trialsguru
well my chainring has pretty much died and im sick of my ugly 22t bash, so ive been thinking of replacing it all with a 16t middleburn bash setup but ive got a few questions for you guys -does the smaller drive snap chains faster? this is my main concern as i can really stomp through on gaps sometimes and i really dont want to be changing chains every month!are there any other issues with them like slipping or chain alignment?or will i be better off just have my bash milled down and pimped and just get a new 20t chainring?pete
Trials Punk
The smaller the chain ring, the more likely the chain is to snap. I quite sure its down to the fact that the smaller chain ring you run, the more torque you get.As long as your running a decent chain, thats been joined togheter properlly, it should be fine.If your on singlespeed try running a BMX KMC kool if it will fit between the chainring and bash, I'm not sure of this. If not that you could mill it down and run the chain, or go for the other kool which is slightly thinner (but weaker).Personally I'd go for milling down the origanal bashguard. So you will be able to fit a wide KMC and be able to change the chainrings without having to replace the whole thing all the time.
Phatmike
If you can find a Titanium one go for it, they're now made from steel, which is aweful! After a small bedding in period, they fit wide chains, (kmc kool, khe collapse etc) no problem.I've snapped a fair number of chains using the 16t, but also with a regular 22t, they do put more force on the chains, but IMO I wouldn't call it a reason to disregard the ti bash. Bendee
or go for the other kool which is slightly thinner (but weaker).how on earth is it weaker its exactly the same chain just narrower get the ti bash get a mtb kool chain and be a happy chappy, just dont be a reetard and replace the chain when it needs it.ive had my ti bash pretty much since it came out and its still in amazing condition ive never snapped a chain with it its easily the best bash gaurd around. Stan Shaw
just dont be a reetard and replace the chain when it needs it.Ditto! I would go for thr 16T bash, they are awesome. Just make sure you replace your chain when needed and this will not only stop you from snapping them, but make your sprockets last longer Ive had my Ti bash for about a year now and its still mint.
