Si-man
Well weight doesnt really matter. Take Bigman on here for example (sorry matey). He's a big lad, but can still ride a bike really well. The skinnier and leaner you are, the easier it will be to lift the bike/ move etc.
Sam F
I suppose it can but then again you could way like 14stone but have alot of muscle to pull the weight up with. Sam.

True, but if you look at alot of riders that are higher level, they are relatively skinny with alot of lean muscle and strength. Helps alot
Sam F
I suppose but any big riders (im not hurting anyone here just pointing out some stuff) by the time they get good or somthing maybe the will lose some of the weight and be normal size or maybe that little overweight still. Onzaallen
I don't think that weight really matter, just enjoy you're self.I am 16 years old and 5ft 9", i weigh 10 stone but i am fairly skinny and i find riding easy enough. But as has been said, just if you are big doesn't mean you can ride, i have seen really fat moto trials ride (i know its different because you are not so flicky on a motor bike) but they can still pull the bike around well. This should help you to tell if you are under weight or over weight.Sorry about the chart it has my weight ect underneatThe_weight_thing.doc Edited August 26, 2006 by Onzaallen
Si-man
haha, according to that im just FAT lol.Starting to go gym now anyway, doing lots of cardio to get rid of some of my excess fatThen bulking up abit to build up some biggish muscles.imagine being 4' 10" and 14 stone haha! funny pictures in my head
Luke Drewery
Hmm well Im 6ft 4" and weigh 13.5 stone, and I have no problems at all. I wouldnt class myself as skinny or fat, I used to go to the gym regularly and I put on nearly a stone of muscle over a period of a year or so, and that has helped a lot, but now Id rather just ride than go to the gym, as its more fun and less tiring. I feel that whats already been said is right, if you are skinny you dont have the power in most cases to lift the bike around, yet if your fat you are lifting your own fat as well as the bike so its 50/50. Willsey
i haven't read any of the topic apart from the first post.. but obviously been very overweight will not do you any justice when riding.. especially being unfit, as you will get weaker as you ride for longer time periods in the day, and if you work your body to hard in a small period of time you can become dizzy and unsafe.. but i would day 'weight' is a problem.. fitness is! muscle weighs alot more than fat, so it wouldn't be fair to say how much you weigh changes it on the size you are.. you do need a certain amount of muscle to do trials, but it depends on your riding style.. Bigman
I know very good fat riders.I think trials is more down to technique and strength than anything else, so weight shouldnt really make anydifference as long as you are as proportionaly strong.Does that mean me???? nah, you can get your momentum from your belly. i jst think people with bigger bellies hve bigger muscles to move them as an offset Totaly Agree......Well weight doesnt really matter. Take Bigman on here for example (sorry matey). He's a big lad, but can still ride a bike really well. The skinnier and leaner you are, the easier it will be to lift the bike/ move etc.No problems dude, i am most deffiantly a big lad i am currently about 6ft4 and 19st ish so when i go on new rides with people i always think that they are thinking " what is such a fat bast**d doing on a trials bike, he can't be very good, but i LOVE being it when i totaly anialate them i would say i am an average rider but atm i am not at my best due to hardly riding in the past 6 months.I also tend to find that i am alot smoother than riders half my weight, i am not sure why it is but it just seems to be the way Adam
Jaffacakes
Your about 10 foot bigman.I cant reallly see weight affecting your riding much unless your a complete beefcake and your belly rests on your bars or something.
monty boi
Personally i think being small makes it harder , because you might be kind of fat and have alot of muscle,or you may be really small and not have alot of muscle (like me) therefore you cant rag the bike. thats my opinion though.Adam. Yeah I'd agree with that. However, one advantage if you don't weigh so much: you can't break your bike so easily! Less force going onto it every time you land (Physics A Level finally seeming useful...)
mat hudson
No, your not a very good rider HARSH...... but fair

Louth Trials
Hey, i'm 5ft 7ins and am 10.5 stone and have a bit of fat but mainly muscle, however i can skippy up 4 blue pallets and side hop up 5. I can throw my bike around like a piece of turd.I Know Fat riders round my area with proper beer bellies who are pretty amazing. overall if you are fat and have puny biceps you will be at a disadvantage.Gu typhoon rider
