old_boy_rider
Sounds like you have a 14mm axle wheel - with a standard 10mm frame, i dont think i would recomend you drill out the drop outs - its likley to weaken the frame. Barbra
don't do this as one day your da bomb wheel will just collapse and die 'n' stuff so then you'll be wanting a new wheel and chances are you'll be wanting a 'proper' wheel, I can see it sliding about in your droupouts myself. Something will go wrong anyway.I'm sure someone can elucidate.
Mat Smith!
NOOOOOOOO lol.The wheel is probs 20" and has different spacing or something, you will need a new hub/wheel.Or wait for someone else to reply, 'cause I don't know much about Da Bombs.Mat

Mark W
You're trying to put 10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag, or in this case trying to fit a 14mm axle into a 10mm frame. Don't ruin the frame for the sake of the wheel - you could either get a new hub or just slot the axle, meaning you slice off the top and bottom part of the axle (so measure down 2mm down from the top then 2mm down from the bottom, then cut across) so it'll slide into the dropout. They do that with some BMXs so it does work, but really, just try and get a new hub. They aren't super expensive or anything, so just try that first
adamtrials
Your da bomb has a 20 inch wheel dosent it?, so you'll need a 19 inch wheel anyway?
Mark W
Not all the Da-Bombs have 20", so it may not be...
Tim-Hill..Yeah Mate
Hi,well i think silent should drill his rim dropouts out to fit a 14mm axcle, my friend tom who bought a koxx djinn frame realized that his axcles were too big for the dropouts so he just drilled them to fit, hes now had the frame about 2 months and hes quite a harsh rider... and its all fine. Then you wouldn't have to pay to get a new hub and spokes. And any you can buy mission 14mm axcle hubs, i don't think there too bad, any who cares about a decent hub..well i don't!Tim. Matt B
If you dont wanna buy a new axle, read on. Take the axle out. Lathe of the axle to the size of you mounts and then re-tap the axle. Otherwise you can just by new hub and stuff if you dont have access to the equipent Mat
$IL3NT.
yes i dont have the equipment so ill get a hub with smaller thread.if anyone has a hub that will fit the Onza T-Pro dropout that had 36 holes for the spokes please add me on MSN boland-1@hotmail.com
26inch
Carefully file or grind 2mm off each side of the axle where it sits in the dropouts, leaving 4 little pits in the axle, this way you dont have to mess about with new bolts + cutting a thread. superstar
if u have a bmx wheel knocking around that mite tide u over till u can decide mate, i used one on my t bird for a bit. just another option.of course check that the bmx wheel has the right size axle as u can get 10mm and 14mm
bikerbob
If you measure across the rim to measure the diameter of the wheel which you are wanting to use then you will be able to determine for definite whether or not it is the right sized wheel. If it is then you can simply cut all of the spokes off and put it in the post to tarty bikes where a cheap T-Pro standard hub is 15 quid, a wheel build is 10 quid plus 2 quid for a final true and spokes are about a tenner. So you could have a decent wheel for forty quid. Remember that the strength of a wheel is in its spokes not the rim, so i'd have thought that the rim would be fine. Alternatively you could buy an onza wheel for around sixty quid. I hope I understood your problem properly, I wasn't too sure somehow. $IL3NT.
ok is there any cheap alternatives just for now because i want to ride as soon as i canfor instance buying a BMX hub or rim because my local bike shops dont stock trials gear and they try ripping you offbut they dont fool me any alternatives ? bikerbob
Posting a rim to a specialist bike shop will not take long. You will be able to find the cheapest one for wheel builds and spares. You will be able to read reviews on here to see which bike shops are reliable, in my experience, if they don't have a good selection of spares, then they have poor mechanics aswell and will take ages to build up a wheel and may not do a very good job.Just my thoughts, i can understand you'r problem though.Bob
