I am considering relocating my number plate but does it have to be lit to pass a MOT? Thanks just a real quick question thats rather important?Thanks. They are a compulsory requirement of the MOT test.Never seen any light up bolts for number plates but no I doubt they are even if they fully light it up with white light. Prawny Baby Posted August 20, 2006 Report Share Posted August 20, 2006 light bolts are legal yes...... but they arnt cheap!they are legal when you use them on the far edges of the plate, and you need one at each end to light the whole plate.but yes, it is a legal requirement to have the plate lit.
