Joe Papasnap Maher
Right....the other day we had some huge ass storm...and big powercut...anwyays, when i turned on my computer again, i couldnt connect to the net.( i know the reason why now.. the windows firewall went back on and stopped me connecting via my router , which i didnt think of at the time )Anyway, i was pissing about trying to get it all to work, and silly me, decided to press the lil reset button on the router. and now i turned the firewall off, and reset the router, it wont work What can i do to get it working Edited August 19, 2006 by JoeMaher

Tomm
Sorry Joe, I forgot to reply earlier. In all of this I'm assuming you have a decent branded router (not some shitty one from your ISP) and ADSL broadband via your phone (rather than NTL broadband or whatever). Can you log into the router from the computer. Depending on the make, you need to type an IP (often it's 192.168.1.1) into firefox and log into the router. (if it's not that, try 10.0.0.1, 192.168.01). Then you'll need to enter the router login/password which may have reverted back to default settings when you reset it (try admin/password, otherwise look it up in the manual). If there's a router setup wizard in there somewhere, you're probably best off doing that. If not, then you need to find the PPPoE settings and enter the details and password to connect to your ISP. That should get you connected. Post here if you're having trouble. Tomm
Is there a status page on the router, that tells you whether it's connected to the internet?
inzane_2
If theres been storms then the router is probally bust! if you have ADSL then you should always get sync! if you cant get sync then try another router, if that dont work try ringing your ADSL provider

froggy
What does it say when you open firefox/ windows explorer? Look at the bottom left task bar, it should say something like 'Resolving DNS..' anything, that would help tell us whats wrong.

quick_spider
Have you tried changing the microfilters? Turning the router off and on?After that, phone the ADSL provider to see if the problem is at their end.If it's not then try factory reseting the router and putting your ADSL settings in again.Jon
