jon0
After some searching around for some cranks which could be considered slightly different to the usual I came across these, Blackspire Freeride Cranks, seems there is new competitor to Square Taper and ISIS BB's.Black spire claim an :"ultra stiff design – zero flex – your frame will flex, your BB will flex, but these cranks ain’t gonna flex…PERIOD" Uses Shimano OCTALINK BB interface only – Proven to outlast those itty bitty ISIS bearings! No need for steel pedal inserts – we use real aluminium"Also a niffty little lifetime Warranty against Breakage. Also there weight, 565g compared to Middleburns RS7 pro which weigh 579g(Without the bash ring) and the ever popular ZOO! Cranks which weigh 515g, they are a competitive in the weight department aswell.http://www.blackspire.com/cranks/4-bolt-crankSo, what do we think? Mark W
I think the sales-talk is utter dick, but they don't look too bad. Steel pedal thread inserts aren't because people "Don't use real aluminium" at all. Equally, there's not going to be much of a difference between ISIS bearings and the Octalink bearings. You have a far greater choice of BB with the ISIS cranks, so purely 'cos you'd have to use those damn Octalink BBs I wouldn't want to go for them. Couple that to the fact you're stuck with a 20t bashring at least it's not a great deal. How much are they after for them?

ruckus_street
WadesCycles are asking £149 for a set.If you're gonna spend that amount on any sort of money on cranks, buy saints, i have them on my freeride hardtail, and after breakin shitload of ISIS bbs, i can say, these are damn good, really really stiff and mega solid (well they are actually hollow, but u kno what i mean) and the big hole u can see through the axle never fails to amuse me.
