trialsguru
well i think ive finally narrowed my choice of disc brake down to a bb7 (with the help of ali c) but i dont know what size rotor to go for.its going to be on a stock. i ride street and natural, i like my brake to have bite and modulation (reason i want to go to a disc) i have been thinking a 185mm rotor will be best as modulation is very important as i dont want to be going over the bars at a trial lol.will the 185 be ok on a stock or is 203 the only way to go? id rather it be smaller if it can be as im worried about hitting it.also wheres the cheapest place to get them from? i can remember them being £50 before but i can only find them for like £
the judge
Not sure on where to get them cheap from, but 185 is spot on. I've got a 185 on my stock and it's a beast. Has instant lock if you want it, but loads of modulation if you don't pull the lever quite as hard
joe b
I got mine, two weeks ago, from a place called www.bikepedlar.com; i'd never heard of the place before, but they appear to be the cheapest around! I got my 160mm Avid BB7 for £53.99, so 185's should be about £60. You've made the right choice, with a BB7, too, matey .Cheers,Joe.
bEavoLa
a 185 is ideal for a stock. i've got a 185mm 2006 Roundagon rotor on the front (203mm is a bit overkill for a bike as light as a trials rig!)try eBay...i got both my BB7s from there - the pair for $
rickycoleman
I run a 203 on my t-mag, which is nice, I know i could quite easily use a 185, but when you learn to use a 203 is nice to have the extra power, and it looks nuts.I would say go for a 203, you will get use to the power. Mark W
The 203 rear IS a 185 front though, I think. 'cos of the difference in adaptors between the rear disc mount and front, that is. Pretty sure, anyway...
trialsguru
but surely then ill have to get a new rotor, which will put the price up to like £65-70 anyway lol
mat hudson
LOL dont be silly mark. its still 203. just uses an adaptor thats accounted for the + 20 on the mounts already.its stil a completley different shaped mount. Which is the bit I was refering to. I was thinking more of the caliper than the rotor, and the fact that rear caliper adaptors were, as you say, taking into account the +20. Never mind though.Your 185 rotor and adaptor are around here somewhere Mat
