BONGO
The Trading Standards Office have brought the following scam to the attention of Devon CC:A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at http ://www.icstis.org.uk or your local trading standards office. This is a genuine scam. This service is under investigation by ICSTIS. Mark W
Cheers dude. Is this just a Devon thing then, judging from the title bit, or is it gonna be a nationwide problem?
RicH_87
hmm interesting...what are we legally allowed to do if we catch them posting it and manage to hog tie them before they get off our property?
Guest
How can they be sure you'll be charged £15, is the charge not network/operator dependant?? and 0906 number's generally do not cost £15 a minute.....

BT don't restrict anything like that they just sell/rent the number and bill for whatever they're told to.
BONGO
I seam to remember reading somewhere that BT have emposed a limit making the maximum possible cost of a phone call £1.50 per minute.BT aren't the sole owners of telephone lines anymore though remember. Independant line operators can impose charges regardless of BT's legislation. It will be a BT line, but BT's customer is the company who the actual customer deals with and they can charge what they wish/ the customer can decided what they want to charge.bongo.
