ecko_joe
hi, i have posted a few things quite recently as i am new, but i havent yet asked what size frame i should get, i am new to trials and i am 14 years old, average height for my age, and i dont now weather to purchase a mod or a stock. i have learnt some things on mods but i have never ridden on a stock. if anyone knows what size would be easier please reply as i am new to trials, thanksjoe
Fvil
To what i know stock is harder to ride/control i m not sure wt the differents is but i think is speed (in my mind) andA mod is easyer to control compared to a Stockif you hav learnt on a mod then obviously get a modthan when you get good and want to try a stockyou be able to do the moves that you can do on a modon that stockobvisouslyI ask rides that question "what is the different bettween mod / stock"they say mod is better fun
max-t
id say get a mod...easier to start out on and the parts are now getting more and more available, theres less stuff to brake on a mod and they are smaller stronger and ligher.you have no gears or derailiers you have to worry about smashing and a starting bike with good brakes is relitvely cheap.also you could always switch to stock later on once you have learnt the basicsto get a feel for both types.but id say that you are better off starting with a mod.max... M3LLON_t-mag
i started on a mod but i enjoy stock i find it easier especially on the Vinco it just seems to ride like a mod but with a longer feel just go for what you feel is comfortable
ogre
Mod is good when your learning esp if you get a frame with a bashplate which will help you so much (you wont be afraid of messing up your frame, and it's mroe forgiving if you fall since it ive you more time to bail out etc) and a mod is obviously lighter because it is smaller. While a stock is better in the long term since it gives you more of a chalenge although you have more things to break (mech) and in theory more parts could break easier (bigger/longer, and you can get more leverage on them) but the bigger wheels can be more forgiving like on a rail there's a larger area of you rim you can land on compared to a mod. stocks are usually heavier (unless you buy a koxx) (if you go stock and want a bash plate there are a few available, Base do one, and some of the old saracens do to)
Concussion
I'd say stock..... for the `long term`. Yeah a mod will be easy to learn/control, but there so limiting when actually riding more than 5min away from your house........unless you have transport, whick kind of defeats the object IMO!STOCK! RLC
Get a mod, because that is what you have already got/used or had a go on
mini-W
I've always rode stock and always thought mods were easier to ride until the other day when I rode my mates mod...... proper killed my arms! I'd go for a stock because you don't just have to ride trials, you can make your sytle abit streety mini-w

twisted
if you hadn't already started on a mod i'd say try both first but as you have stick with it, as most people say there a lot more fun and easier to handle (even though they do kill your arms at first) and unless you have no stamina you CAN go more than 5 mins away from your house.... just takes a little longer But really its up to you, which one you prefer. minicrack
I personaily would say get a mod, casue i have one. If youre starting get a mod and you started on one so it would be a good idea. Then if you decide you prefer stock smiply get one later when you know the basics You should go with what one you feel suits you best. Reinold
i would say have a go on a stock and a mod if you can but if u cant then a mod i have heard that they are a lot easyer to use i think they are have you had a look at a 24" onza zoot have a look thanks conorA onza zoot would be good for you.I have a mate who used to ride one,in my opinon it was riding a lot better than a mod.But im still going to stick with my mod as there easyer to use and you dont need a lot of power to flick the bike around. So Yeah get a mod and then after a while try a stock Cheers Ray
N Roach
Joe, there are 24" aswell
Matt B
i ride mod and have used my mates zoot quite a bit. but in my eyes they feel to hevy and are not so flickable they fell more of a street bike. but it depends on how you ride and how you wanna ride i supose so i would go with a mod if that what you are used to
