stiffnips
Hi there, i've had an idea i have made a tensioner for my mod which looks to be the same as the 'Gusset fixed tensioner'Now, my tensioner is made of thin metal so it keeps bending,[attachmentid=6456]i need something made strong thats made strong. The 'Gusset fixed tensioner' is apparently compatible with the 'Hope pro2 trials hub' but not compatible with Chrisking Fun bolts.Could someone tell me why this is? I have a profile so i would like to know if i can use the 8m bolts from that to bolt this thing on. Before anyone asks i am using this type of tensioner on a mod because, if i take a link out of my chain its too short but then if i put one in its too long. This way i can have my break pads set up where i want them and my chain tensioned correctly. Thanks for your help guys, Nick
bob87
As far as i can tell there is no way this is going to fit your bike.As you can see on the picture there are two mounting points.1 that your skewer goes through and one that connects directly to the mech hanger on the frame. You've also got your tensioner mounted on the inside of your frame at the moment. If in fact your were able to find a way to fit this to a mod, then yes you would be able to use profile 8mm bolts but you would have to drill one of the mounts out a bit.I tried to use this type of tensioner on my Leeson but because the Leeson has 360 drop outs the part that the qr goes through didn't match up, this is going to be your main problem as-well.Can you get some pictures of what you were thinking of putting on your frame or is this the actual tensioner your going to use? Thanks for your help guys, Nickchris king fun bolts are fatter at the end and won't fit through the bolt hole.[attachmentid=6457]The thiner part is 10mm (the same as your dropout) and the thicker part is 12mm (i think)you could try using something similar to the leeson kiss tensioner, I think Will Arnold did something similar or use a half link I tried to use this type of tensioner on my Leeson but because the Leeson has 360 drop outs the part that the qr goes through didn't match up, this is going to be your main problem as-well.Leeson K.I.S.S tensioner [attachmentid=6458]
bob87
Leeson K.I.S.S tensioner [attachmentid=6458]I actually got mine sorted eventually.Used one of those Dmr STS tensioners, took the mounting plate off the frame lined it up with mech bolt hole and one of the plate bolt holes and sanwiched it together.i just used longer bolts and some washers to even it out.Didn't cost me anything either as i had one lying there from a while back.Saved me having to order The Leeson one above and works perfectly. stiffnips
I was just going to do the same with this as i did with my one. Mount it using my profile bolts, i don't see why this shouldn't work as long as the holes in the tensioner are big enough should be fine. thanks for your help guys keep giving me different tensioners to take a look at.NickEdit: Just looking at the 'Fresh products SS Tensioner' and i'm just wondering if this would work, i've also looked at my dropouts and i would be able to mount this on the outside of my frame.
